These ATs did an AMAZING job. Dealt with a very similar injury response (In and out of consciousness, seizures. all from a puck to the face). There should be no one criticizing them, besides themselves once they can re-eval the situation.

After 16 years as paramedic if someone wants to move it is near impossible to keep them still, the hardest time I every had was with a lady that 110 pounds, can't imagine how difficult it was with someone that has the size and strength of a professional athlete.

hey Brian, i just want to thank you for 1) the quick upload about this and other incidences, and 2) for covering hockey, it doesn’t get the clicks like other sports will but you still cover it and i appreciate that, your channel is extremely insightful.

Thank you so much for the update! As a leafs fan, I just discovered your channel through the Tavares injury. There is something about the way you broke down that traumatic moment that was really reassuring and calming. As someone with no medical knowledge, I couldn't help but think the worst. Thanks again!

I think it takes a amazing amount of knowledge to be able to explain things the way Docter Brian does. Anyone can memorize a bunch of terms and recite them but to be able to teach them to total lamen who have no background in medicine and make it easy to follow takes a truly smart man and Brian is that! Great job Doc you are gonna be huge one day on here!

I thought the trainers did an awful job at first but you’re the expert so I changed my mind you’re right they did their best

Called it so damn hard. Pre-hospitalization case study is always so intriguing. This incident also reminds us how much these athletes invest in their sports. Barely being conscious and he still wants to play. Wishing him a safe recovery 🙏🏽🙏🏽

At first the announcers made it sound like a skate got him. For a terrifying second or two when I saw the trainer with his hand around his throat I thought we were having another Malarchuk situation.

Thank you. There are a few of these types of Youtube doctors making these kind of videos, but yours are the best! You're clear, concise, and informative. Also, sports folks appreciate the fact that you're a bit of a fan. It's a much better video because you know who John Tavares is (and can pronounce his name.)

Great job, Doc. Right now in Toronto it's 85° and sunny. But this injury sure makes it feel like rain.

Thank you so much! I didn’t think i had it in me to feel the kind of compassion i felt and to a certain extent still feel but that update from a professional makes me feel a genuine sense of relief. I cannot even imagine how his family must have felt watching that! Warm and Loving Blessings to you and all!

Great point about the difficulty of controlling and stabilizing him via being on ice with shoes. Those were my exact thoughts as they tried to tend to him -- they must have really grippy shoes, like for Broom Ball.
