Jesus In Gethsemane

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus told His disciples to pray lest they fall into temptation. But why prayer? Scripture assures us that God will protect us from temptation and unbelief; Alistair Begg clarifies, however, that God uses His chosen means of prayer, worship, and fellowship to keep us in the faith. Prayer and faith may not keep us from great sorrow here on earth—but Jesus promises us an eternity that will undo all the suffering.

Scripture: Luke 22:39
Preached: July 20, 2003

Pastor, I think Jesus was not praying for His crucifixion to be cancelled by Father, because Jesus always emphasized not to be fear of physical death but spiritual death.. Jesus was praying about the consequence of crucifixion by means of death that could be forever..

Nevertheless, His prayer was granted by Father by arising Him from the death just as Hebrew 5:7 explains..

Hebrew 5:7
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
