This video will show you how to work out direct proportion formulas if y is directly proportional to x squared. In example 1 you are told that y varies directly proportional to the square of x, and when x = 5, y = 150. Since y is directly proportional to x then the formula will take the shape of y = kx^2. You then need to substitute the values of x and y into this formula so you can work out the value of k. This will give you a final formula of y = 6x^2.
