Right as I was going to upload this video I saw a a creator called Centre who uploaded a very similar video just a day ago. I promise I’m not copying him, it’s just a coincidence 😭 This videos been in the works for a while now. But anyways he makes great stuff definitely go check him out.

In S2, masamune was pretty much a high B rank bladder who fought A and S rank bladders. In S3, masamune was a high S rank bladder who lost to SS rank bladders

Masamune isn't just a victim to plot, he's an even bigger victim to the fandom's toxicity and media illiteracy

Losing to Gigna 50 times doesn't make him a fraud. The fact that he won once (and not through skill) and claimed he was the better Blader, that's what makes him a fraud

When it comes to the Zeo fight, that was one of the biggest displays of plot armor I’ve ever seen

1. Masamune stopped himself mid attack

2. Zeo used his strongest attack at the same time

3. Zeo used steroids in the fight

4. Masamune had to lose so Ryuga could pull up

5. Zeo had to win or else the whole arc with Toby coming back would’ve never happened

The thing I found frustrating is that okay, Fair enough in metal masters he had to be a plot sacrifice but then they could’ve at least made up for it in metal fury by turning him into serious character and allowing him to stat pad up his wins against people, leading him to become the winter legendary blader instead of Chris. That would’ve gotten rid of the pain of metal Masters. But instead they decide to double down on his plot sacrifice in order to introduce characters with little to no backstory. Ridiculous

Masamune is an A-tier blader who continuously claims to be an S-tier. By the end of Fury, he's easily a top 15 blader, but he still claims to be not only as good as, but better than those above him. For opponents like Klaus, King, and Chris, I can let it slide since before they fought Masamune nobody knew what their true power was like (plus the battles were close). But Masamune claims to be stronger than bladers like Gingka and Kyoya when that's demonstrably false, made worse by him saying he could low-diff them

When other bladers claim (wrongly) that they could beat stronger opponents, they tend to acknowledge that they have to give it their all. Kyoya often acknowledged when his opponents were strong (mainly Gingka and Ryuga). Even Ryuga himself acknowledged how strong his opponents are at times (Tsubasa, Kyoya, and Kenta). Masamune made Kyoya and Ryuga look humble, and considering Ryuga's hubris got him killed, it just makes Masamune look like he has the most overinflated ego in history

I think Masamune’s impact in many of his battles says a lot about his raw power. The Nile battle being the exception because Striker barely touched Horuseus there. But in Round 1 w/ Chao Xin he made him panic and lose his cool. He caught Excalibur’s attention by breaking the Grand Deucalion. Then when he faced Klaus like you said he did practically everything right. Even against King in Destroyer Dome he outlasted Eagle against Variares which speaks to his growth as a blader, not to mention King’s acknowledgment of his skill. When Masamune first came on in Metal Masters I didn’t want to believe he was stronger than Tsubasa but I feel like in many ways he outgrew him as the series continued.

I do feel like in metal masters he was done dirty by the writers as result of playing of second fiddle to tsbusas dark power sec and gingka being the main character

This video mostly sums up how I feel about his losses, I still feel like he was done dirty to an extent, specifically in the second half of the World Championship. Also, for the record, "fraud" just feels like another trendy word anime fans, especially power-scalers, decided to abuse, spam, and popularise in an annoying way. With Chao Xin, that was just unfortunate, and it does lead to a real win later in the actual tournament; I don't really count this one because this "loss" wasn't even in the tournament. Same thing with the Excalibur loss, it was justified, non-fraudulent, but I'm focusing on tournament losses (long, incoherent ramble incoming):

- The Nile loss, is always the one loss in the tournament which I considered justified and needed, and he did redeem that loss in the team battle (which I appreciate that being a Metal Saga battle that actually involved real smart-play and teamwork rather than raw power and spirit).
- The Klaus loss only happened because of Tsubasa's dark power story, and because Julian had been built up for a while, and Gingka was gonna be the one to beat him. I wouldn't have even minded if Klaus vs Masamune ended in a tie, a loss just didn't feel right. I mean, one of them lost to the joint Cetus special move, the other broke though it, to the point where before the match Wales and Sophie warned Klaus of Masamune, which shows his strength and that he left his mark despite being largely outmatched by Excalibur. And even though I felt Masamune could have won, you have to rate him for earning Klaus's respect, respect that continued even before US vs EU. This battle overall shows his growth compared to the Nile fight: being less cocky, working harder, and getting his opponent to truly respect him and give him a thumbs up, right before collapsing, let that last one sink in
- The Selen loss was pure BS and unlike the Klaus or Zeo ones where plot played a role, this one could've been avoided entirely. To the point where I'd slightly rewrite the round so Masamune would last to Ian at least and, regardless of whether he loses (have Tsubasa finish Ian with an aerial attack like Gingka originally did), wins (then have him be sneak-attacked by Argo instead of Gingka) or draws against Ian, Tsubasa could then finish up and his match with Argo would continue as normal. This would be interesting because Gingka wouldn't need to be in the fight and swoop in to save the day like usual since throughout most of the tournament, Gingka carried the team on his back, which makes sense since he's the leader, but still
- Zeo was also plot, the moment Toby was on the line. It was said by Ryo in Episode 43 that Masamune's aerial attack would have decided the battle, but Zeo started the arrangement mid-battle. So if Zeo didn't mention Toby dying, and more importantly, didn't start the arrangement, Masamune would have won. If anything, Zeo was the fraud in that battle and, like Klaus, he needed to really push the limits to beat Masamune, showing what a worthy opponent Masamune was

- Not much to say with King and Chris, these losses were justified, but he put up great fights. he was a stepping stone for not one, but two Legendary Bladers. I rewatched Masamune vs Chris, and to be fair to Masamune, he put up a great fight before Chris's awakening, and that's what it took to beat Masamune

Also, great video, and here's a video idea: do one like this, but for our main character Gingka. He's seems to be a mixed bag in the community because of 2 words: plot armour

PS: When defending Masamune, people also bring up his growth and character development (ya hear that, power-scalers: character development). He, along with his fellow teammate Tsubasa, had a solid character arc which is visible from the first episode of Masters to the last

I think Masamune gets a treatment that could be compared to "If you beat him you're a great blader, if you lose you're not important"

Masamune looks like a checkpoint for his opponents, he's the step to take to be world class, this is particularly felt in Fury when he loses against King and Chris.

I don’t think people would hate him as much if he didn’t go around claiming to be the strongest #1 blader without a single significant W under his belt, I mean Kyoya and Ryuga constantly boast about their ability but at least they can back it up. Nobody’s gonna step up to Kyoya or Ryuga when it comes down to it but Masemune, nobody takes him seriously. Dude is a fraud by definition

I agree with most of what you said in the video. However, I wouldn't use the word 'fraud' or 'fraudulent, ' especially regarding Masamune's battle with Nile. It was a fight that contributed to Masamune's character development and truly made him a team player. After the fight with Team Wild Fang, he seemed noticeably less arrogant. People seem to dislike him because of his personality—because he talks big and lacks inhibition. But in my opinion, those flaws make him a more fleshed-out character.

I still believe the writers should have revealed Masamune's backstory earlier; the battle against Nile would have been the perfect moment. Additionally, he could have won against Selen, even after being tricked a little. This would have helped better introduce Ian by having him defeat Masamune.

I can forgive Masamune getting man handled by Twisted Tempo, getting cold feet against Zeo, and great wall giving out beneath Striker etc. but when you are getting smacked by Selen who is an Actual Fraud and losing your absolute cool to Nile you are NOT beating the allegations.

You are one of my favorite beyblade youtubers, you have great reasons with characters and have good reasons, you respect and care about the characters and their development, not so many beyblade fans are like that, so keep it up man!

I feel like he was done dirty by the writers to an extent, but at the same time he’s a cautionary tale of what happens when your skills don’t line up with the arrogance you have a habit of displaying. I think it’s mainly a skill issue.
DaXian (or whatever his name was spelled) was a pain to pronounce because Chinese pronunciation isn’t a second-nature thing for most US Americans 😂

The problem is he exist purely as a sacrificial lamb, tsubasa must be in distress in his match because if he lost aswell the championship ends which makes his dark power spiral out of control each time & gingka needs to battle the ace of the opponent team because everyone is looking forward to it so in order to have that someone must lose their match to increase the stakes which happens to be masamune the least important character story wise

Fictionist

Masamune was just mishandled by the writers also I feel like he suffers from how shorter the world championships are because of his limited amount of battles being majority losses
