In this video I tell you everything you need and everything you need to know to register your imported car in the UK to get it a registration number and use it on the roads. It is a lot simpler than you may think and I got through each piece of documentation you need to send off the the DVLA and the costs involved.

Sorry the Import Plates are 13" x 7" not 9" :)

Thanks for watching and enjoy :)

DVLA wasted my two weeks. Now I need a vehicle approval certificate. DVLA advice prior getting a log book. Insurance not necessary at this stage. Kind regards abs

A great series of videos, well presented and extremely informative.

Did you not need a CoC for completion of the V55/5, and did you ever have the Service History.?
With the car I am buying from Singapore, the main Importer/Dealer won't release or disclose the service history; as it's "the property of the owner".

Helpful video, thanks. When you had it MOT'd, did they record it in KM or Miles on your certificate? And has either caused any problems for you? I've heard that if it's given as KMs the DVLA chase you to check you've changed your speedo, but like you I'd like to leave it original.

Hi,

Great video mate, very clear and concise

Only one question - how did you calculate the amount of road tax you were required to pay for your car (excluding the £55 flat registration fee). Did you send one single postal order equal to the value of the registration fee and road tax combined or two separate postal orders (one for road tax one for registration fee).

Hi, how can you fill out the v55/5 form with a vin number as japanese vehicles have no vin number? I only have a chassis number on the plate on the vehicle i am buying. It doesnt have a vin number. Would really appreciate help/advice about where the vin number is? Thx .
