The real question is did Julian want something badly? Was he having difficulty getting it?

Julian will always be in my heart, despite the fact the the gm just wanted him to be a no name red shirt.

"In fact his name wasn't even Julian, it was Sebastian, but he was so bland we couldn't even remember that."

I think developing the inn keeper is usually a good idea since most parties have frequent contact with them.

I love your videos so much; your off the cuff alliteration and examples are as joy-sparking as your well-thought wisdom. 😊

I've got a set of D12 dice that were blanks. I wrote race names on one char classes on another, major background types on a 3rd.... add 1D4 to 6D4 to determine the level and... you have a rapid random NPC generation system.

This limits them to PHB.

You'd need a table and % dice to add all of the "official" races and classes.

Guy, I just gotta start following your games more, you seem like such an awesome DM, totally engaged with your players, but not against them!

Couldn't be more relevant to my new campaign. Also really thinking "death will come" as a focusing theme. Sorry NPCs. Cheers.

Some of Guy's NPC's of note 💛💛💛
Windswift Series:
1. Captain Jessani Tye - started out as the first officer of the Windswift. Took charge of the ship when the PCs were doing their thing. Very prim, proper, & by the book. No nonsense career military woman, very good at her job and very loyal to the pcs.
2. Mios - started off as a cabin boy rescued from an allied vessel that was destroyed. Continued those duties on board the Windswift, learning from the various NPCs and idolizing the PCs. Young & eager, Mios grew up and found his confidence, being promoted to first officer. #MiosDiesWeRiot
Kharos Stones series:
1. Captain Sarak - the rotund and kinda greedy merchant captain of the sky whale Sartune. Follows and transports the PCs around the broken world Karr, with the promise of fame and fortune. Helpful with his local knowledge and always being there to plot the next course.
2. Scratches - the talking donkey dragged into their epic journey to the core of the planet. Not just a missing piece to their puzzle, but a knowledgeable character who helped teach some of the PCs to read, as well impart his expertise of social situations & interactions. Was a huge comedic force.

In my game it was 'Alas Actual Smith' (Because we knew his name was actually Smith) the Scientist who had been looking over our Trio of Mutant Animals

Death will come... my players have personally killed a whole 8 enemies in 2 sessions. Not just NPCs but also monsters. Death is only coming by the DMs hand.
(This is especially strange as they will do things like sleep some enemies and then loot the bodies, steal the horses, break their weapons, and leave them sleeping unharmed by the side of the road)

As a Julian, it's odd to hear my own name for a character. Glad you didn't use Yorrick, as he always gets confused for Horacio by silly people. Julian is worthy of studying in Rome, as the last real Pagan uprising before Christendom. His uncle Constantine is often held to be some great person, but was the biggest rapist aside from Ghengis Khan based on DNA. Constantine invented the cross (Jesus being crucified on an X shape) and Julian tried to stop it quite unsuccessfully, but Paganism never died even in the church. Angela being considered false gods meant Jews became pagan by proxy. Very worthwhile to study this time due to modern relevance, as we go from religion to science. Julian might well argue science is paganism without deities. This one does at least. ;P. We all owe alchemy a lot to our modernization and should be thankful. Usually I play an AO follower in D&D, as my character believes the 'gods' are fallen angel impersonators or just ancient beings that don't die. It's great for RP being a nondenominational pagan but tricky. It's like Thomas the doubter Gnostic style; the gods are to be respected, feared, not trusted, and only trustable through skepticism and scientific analysis... with alchemy.

Just to have some "Jooleans" ready, I say build some generic npcs; peasant, skilled, soldier, merchant, etc. Just use the one you need to at the time and carry them over to other cities, just change their names.

There was an old lady in my 40k RPG just beeing around in a public transport. After meeting her twice my players decided that they want to visit her after their scuicide mission. Those two players are playing a sister of battle and a very short Krieg guardsman :D. She just was around and for some god forsaken reason my players LOVE HER. Can somebody tell me why the fuck?

Just curious-- how does the Heroes UI affect any of your directions in this playlist? Especially in terms of "segregating" campaigns from worlds?
