These 'explained' videos are really great, please keep doing them. Well-presented.

I wasn't too surprised at first with the small overlap test because the Bronco shares the chassis with the Ranger. However, I am quite surprised that head restraints only received an "acceptable" rating. And why is the passenger side better than the driver side in the small overlap test.

I like the informative nature of this video. I somehow found myself watching these crash tests. This is the first one I've seen with an instructional component. Well done.

Hi IIHS, Please examine the crash structure in the front wheel well. Bronco models with bigger tires delete a 'brace' to allow the tires to fit.

It’s interesting how some older halogens with a good projector can outperform new LEDs.

Place your bets that Ford will fix the seats for the 2023 version.

I believe these are two easy to fix things that the next generation Bronco can improve on.

Well, at least the Bronco didn't roll over after the small overlap test like the Wrangler did...

Hmm, I understand now why is that my Honda's head rest bending forward so much!
For the headlight issue. I guess most owner add those crazy offroad light bars.

I have a 2 Dr model and I must say the headlights are super bright. I always think I have the high beams on. Which I don't it's crazy bright high beams

How would the Sasquatch package fare in terms of footwell intrusion or otherwise? Being it does not have a wheel well intrusion beam like this tested model had.

So ford needs to improve headlight and head restraint. But many owners do change or add additional aux lights. But its good so see IIHS takes even headlights corner illumination in consideration.

What about side cornering lights???? Very important when making turns at night.

I appreciate the work that IIHS does for vehicle safety, but @ 1:16 had me a tad triggered. Most vehicles have lights that are already to powerful and bright and what makes this worse is that the most popular vehicles sold is a freaking SUV or truck … which means it sits up higher than cars! In other parts of the world most automotive manufacturers have adaptive headlights that can prevent blinding oncoming traffic! The DOT regulation on headlights is very antiquated and should have been updated 20 years ago when HID headlights *& SUVs* got to be a popular thing.

Modern headlights should have non-defeatable automatic highbeams while in the city, load leveling and a lighting matrix that prevents glare to oncoming or followed vehicles when the light source is better than a halogen bulb, at minimum. I despise driving at night just because it’s in evitable that I’ll get passed by some vehicle with six LED headlights that is loaded down and the beams are shining right in my face! Then there are people who just don’t understand the technology and ride around with their highbeams on full tilt just obliterating peoples vision.

Take these thoughts into consideration when you’re dictating these lighting performance ratings.

Was this vehicle subjected to the updated side crash testing?
