How come if you steal from work the FBI chases you down but if your work steals from you, you have to sue them and then nobody goes to jail?

Companies can hurt an individual and never be punished. When an individual hurts a company heads will roll.

Imagine the shock of going to prison where your surrounded by loud people constantly with zero freedom in a tiny cell, after years of living so free with solitude and no boundaries other than yourself.

I hiked with Bismarck in 2012. He was a generous soul and would often tell me how he donates a lot of gear so his dear friend can go out hike in their backyard. The friends name? Dan Becker.

I believe that I met him on the Appalachian trail in July of 2013. Looked just like him, he gave me his trail name at the end of us talking but he spoke softly and I didn't hear it. The Appalachian trail runs right next to my parents property on the Tennessee border. I said hello to him as I was up on the ttrail on that day and he smiled and said hello back. We got to talking and he explained he was hiking his way across the Appalachian trail. He asked ifI was a fellow hiker making my way along the trail as well to which I replied I was simply exploring my parents new property and found the trail. He looked tired and hungry. I offered him water and food & he gladly excepted and thanked me quite a few times. After drinking some water and eating a whole made deer meat philly cheese steak I gave him he told me that was the best Philly cheese steak he'd ever had. We talked a little longer & he told me some jokes and we laughed for a bit. Then he said he better be getting back to it so I gave him some chips, cookies, pizza, and a gallon of water and We said our good bye's and off he went. He did tell me his trail name at the end like I said but he spoke real softly and I couldn't hear it. Anyway he was a super nice friendly guy if that was him. And if it wasn't him and it was another hiker who looked like him I was happy to help him out anyway.

Don't worry about his daughter, she turned out alirght - she went on to medical school. She's probably a doctor now. And I bet her dad squirreled some of that cash away for her too.

If you look at the federal prison inmate locator, it appears that James Hammes was released from federal prison one year ago today - January 14, 2022.

If I had been out there and knew him and what he had done, I would not have said a word to anyone. I would have shook his hand, smiled at him and wished him well.

When you said he was a quote "really bad guy" I thought it was gonna be unalived a few people, maybe even family members. But, instead, he stole money from a rich corporation. What an absolutely abhorrent person.

He may not have abandoned his daughter, it’s very common for people on the run to contact their families. He could’ve written or called her and even arranged to meet somewhere along the trail at some point.

I met him and Hopper on the AT when I thru hiked it in 2014. he was the nicest guy. I hiked with them for a bit and even stayed in a hostel with them. I was really shocked when he was arrested.

I hiked with Bismarck in 2011 for multiple days. He was a incredibly nice dude. I’m digging through pics now.

Dude, if he got sentenced to 8 years in 2015, he's almost finished his sentence....so maybe he'll get back on trail? It would be hilarious if he completed the PCT just to embarrass you.

Kyle - "Fear mongering is a BIG PROBLEM in the thru hiking community."

Also Kyle - "My NEAR DEATH experience thru hiking!", "MISSING Appalachian Trail thru hiker!", "Most DISTURBING photo in AT history!", "Missing PCT hiker hasn't been found!", "The Appalachian Trails most NOTORIOUS criminal"

For real though videos like this are important and I love your content.
Sorry I'm a dick
Love you

Hiding from the authorities by hiking around in the middle of nowhere is more common than you might think. It would be my first choice... even if I wasn't a hiker

If he was sentenced to 8 years in 2015 he’s probably already released. It would be interesting if you updated on this. Thanks for the great story!

A 22 year old woman can't be "abandoned". Did she even have a relationship with him? Stop acting like he was reading her bedtime stories and then suddenly she woke up in an empty house. They probably tolerated each other at best, his wife most likely held the family together.

I live in Damascus and was a manager of one of the restaurants in town when this happened. He had actually been a time or two. The bartender said he was a nice guy, really soft spoken.

If I were wanted by the FBI, I would go in a long hike too!

"Embezzlement is a non-violent offense...." Well, it can drive a company of hard-working people under, and can put many people out of work, causing all kinds of traumas and suffering.
