Whenever I would ask “Why aren’t the fish biting” when I was little, my pawpaw would say “Cuz you ain’t holding your mouth right”. Took me several years to realize he meant it wasn’t closed and that I was supposed to shut up 😂

As someone who has fished a good number of times, I have scared them both by talking and by them seeing me outside the water. They have eyes and ears, and are quite sensitive to sound waves. Some types of fish might be too dumb to recognize you as a threat because we’re so odd to them, or maybe you get lucky and they don’t notice, but you’re still better off not making noise

As much as that may or not make sense, it's not true. Fish are very sensitive to loud noises. Loud talking can and will scare fish away.
