Vangelis - Opening, Closing & Alternate Titles from The Bounty

These three pieces of musical majesty by Vangelis generate an awareness of the ominous force, yet serene tranquility of the sea. The vastness of the ocean surges against the coastline and reminds us that beneath the sparkling allure of the waves lies a terrible strength, ready to rise up with overwhelming power.

My photos were intertwined to accompany the themes from The Bounty and extend a visual link to the listener, so that they might immerse themselves into these sweeping measures.

RIP Vangelis. Thank you for all these masterpieces. The Bounty wouldn't be the same without this hypnotic music.

I remember... Summer of 1984. Went to see this movie. The opening scene was so dark, seductive and foreboding. And the closing theme is my favorite closing theme of all time. I sat in that theater seat and listened until the theater lights came on.

Only watched this movie for the first time a few months ago. One of the best examples of how a score can enhance the quality of a film immeasurably. A bold decision to go with a synthesizer score for a period movie. And it works, boy does it work.

A massively underrated soundtrack and massively underrated film.
Throbbing tension and menace, with an undercurrent of melancholy and homesickness.

Vangelis was out of this World, he got a sense of music directly from Heaven.... he didnt need music schools!

the most underrated Vangelis soundtrack of all. Captures the atmosphere even better than Blade Runner.

I cruised to Tahiti. On deck at dawn as we approached Moorea with this music in my ear buds. What a magical moment!

i was just a 9 year old kid in croatia....the year was 1991. and the war just broke out with serbia. i was about to go to the train as my parents sent me to our family in switzerland. and this movie was just on as i watched it packing my bags. this opening titles theme got imprinted in me for life and it played in my head for years as it perfectly helped me cope and summerize the ambience i felt in my country there in the beggining of war during blackouts... and to cope with those unknown intense feelings of fear and unpredictability of war. pure masterpiece

Man I thought I was the only one! So nice to hear so many people love it. When I saw this movie on its release I was struck right away by this score. So beautiful it almost makes you cry.

First of all: I am not a composer. But I like good music, so I post my opinion here:
Composing was in that time was different, then it is now. Nowadays we got a lot of "cheap" music to please the publishers an make money. None of this will prevail over time. Instead, all good composers will always be remembered in future times. The generations to come will still be listening to Vangelis and Enricio Moricone and a few others. Just like Beethoven, Mozart and others are still valued today. I'm thankful that I was alive when Morrricione, Vangelis, and a few others released their music for the first time. It was mind blowing, , , , Thank you, Legends!

I had scheduled my TV to play The Bounty and didn't realise it was to play at 1am in the morning, so I woke up to the sound of this amazing sound track at the start of the movie. I proceeded to the lounge to watch the film and was enraptured to the end.

RIP Vangelis. This score reminds me of expansive beauty juxtaposed with a lurking sense of danger.

Absolutely love this film, an all star cast thst you'll never, ever again see in one film ever again.

The sound, keyboard synthesiser is very 1984, a great year like the lovely summer we had with all our loved one's present back then, but sadly no longer with us.
I find that summeresque keyboard very saddening, those times and people no longer with us, it wS a very different time and world back then. Better than now.
