If you are just learning, microcontrollers are the best option unsless you have a specific project that requires the power of an SBC. You can get a whole microcontroller kit for the cost on an SBC. If you do something silly and destroy the device, a microcontroller is far cheaper than an SBC to replace.

Very concise comparison and insight for applications and limitations between the two.

New subscriber due to those reasons.

If you are just learning microcontrollers get an RPi and use it for your desktop computer while working with the microcontroller. That will show you the difference first hand.

Thank you for the explaining the differences. Are there prefered languages for esp32 boards? Also @ 5:00 how low can the batteries get before the Arduino board stops working?

My experience is with Arduino but I could use HDMI support depending on what that support is. Do you have a video showing what the Raspberry Pi can do with HDMI?

Can I use rpi for real time processing or I better go for microcontroller?

Forgot to mention that when using an RPI and you suddenly unplug it you can corrupt the storage media. There is no such issue with a microcontroller. The ESP32 has a dual core, and does run a RTOS.

Doesn't the Raspberry Pi 5 require even a 5A power supply?
