Alan in my opinion didn't get the issue of status right. Status and hierarchies are deeply embeded in nature and animals developed very complex mechanisms to cope with them. Survival depended most of our existence on them so it's not a matter of mere propaganda or any other simplification of the situation. Nature favors the benefactors, the ones that provide value to existence. This is by no means a simple subject.
