In this approach, there are three major narratives: political development, modernization, and dependency. Political development theory emphasized the requirement to build new analytical tools and was criticized for Eurocentrism. In the second section, one can find a description of the emergence of modernization theory, which grew in prominence in the wake of decolonization after the Second World War. The third section presents a comprehensive understanding of dependency theory, or Neo-Marxist theories on development. After each section, previous years' questions were also discussed.
