The scene about Martha and the missing dog going through the whole lead up can actually show how stressed Martha is until it explodes out of her

Shaelin, you're absolutely amazing. Thank you for all of your videos. You're brilliant!

I find that steps 1, 2, and 3 have been helpful while too much talk about "structure" can lead me to overthinking and that the structure that's inside of me comes out over time in the other 3 and not necessarily it's own step. But you touched on it just right it seems.

A scene is like a memory if it doesn’t impact you, you won’t remember it or won’t remember it That much so if a scene is not impacting your story or ending don’t add it ❤

The scene with Martha and her dog feels like every Stephen King book. Most of it is people doing basic things, a couple of poignant moments arise and then it ends.

This video made me think a little about my book that I'm trying to write

I try to make a first chapter and in one of them , my character got a kind of a lucid dream and he tries to see who can help him to see what is the meaning of it, being too real to be a dream. For this, his best friend is an option and through this, they try to uncover mysteries

The story is science-fiction, a little bit like Star Wars, and adventure like Marvel but in a more moral sense, so if anyone can give me how I can build a scene after this, I'm all ears 😊

How about how the scene develops the character arc? How the character is changing based on his current situation and how he is interacting with a new group of people.

I'm on the first draft so I'll likely change stuff, but being retired, versus being on the go puts this character in touch with a whole new group of people. That, and the reason he HAS to retire gives H.P. a sense of security. I'll say no more for now.

How do you feel about fanfiction? Is it good for a writer to come from that type of writing or not?

Would you make a video about it? As i have seen a lot of mixed feelings on the subject but at the same time they seem to welcome it.

I do write fanfiction but, i write in the rules of lecture. Outlining, chapter planning, characters development or change in said story. I don't really stay within that world of the fandom but i try to make it as believable and novel like.

When you say the scene must advance the outcome, do you mean the outcome of the scene or of the story as a whole?

What is white space in writing? How can you decide what to write in scenes between pivotal moments in the story? I feel like I'm struggling to write meaningful content in between the key moments in the plot...
