Όπως ανακοίνωσε πριν από λίγο η ρωσική προεδρία, με ανάρτηση της στην επίσημη ιστοσελίδα της, ο Ρώσος πρόεδρος Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν έδωσε εντολή για κατάπαυση του πυρός, σε όλη τη εμπόλεμη γραμμή του μετώπου, με τις Ουκρανικές δυνάμεις, λόγω των Χριστουγέννων και μετά από έκκληση του Παναγιωτάτου Πατριάρχη Κύριλλου.
Αναλυτικότερα, η ανακοίνωση αναφέρει τα εξής:
«Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη την έκκληση του Παναγιωτάτου Πατριάρχη Κύριλλου, δίνω εντολή στον Υπουργό Άμυνας της Ρωσικής Ομοσπονδίας, να επιβληθεί από τις 12:00 στις 6 Ιανουαρίου 2023, έως τις 24:00 στις 7 Ιανουαρίου 2023, κατάπαυση του πυρός σε ολόκληρη τη γραμμή επαφής, μεταξύ των δυο μερών στην Ουκρανία.
Με βάση το γεγονός ότι μεγάλος αριθμός πολιτών, που δηλώνουν Ορθόδοξοι ζουν στις εμπόλεμες περιοχές, καλούμε την ουκρανική πλευρά, να κηρύξει κατάπαυση του πυρός και να τους δώσει την ευκαιρία, να παρακολουθήσουν τις λειτουργίες, την παραμονή των Χριστουγέννων, καθώς και την ημέρα της Γέννησης του Ιησού Χρηστού».
Αυτό που απομένει τώρα να δούμε, είναι αν η Ουκρανική πλευρά, αποδεχτεί την έκκληση της Ρωσίας ή θα συνεχίσει τις εχθροπραξίες.

As the Russian presidency announced a while ago, with a post on its official website, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a cease-fire, along the entire war front line, with the Ukrainian forces, due to Christmas and after a call from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
In more detail, the announcement states the following:
"Taking into account the appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, I instruct the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation to impose from 12:00 on January 6, 2023, until 24:00 on January 7, 2023, a ceasefire along the entire line of contact, between the parties in Ukraine.
Based on the fact that a large number of citizens, who declare themselves Orthodox, live in the war zones, we call on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give them the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day of Jesus Christ".
What remains to be seen now is whether the Ukrainian side will accept Russia's appeal or continue to fight.
