Note Before you Comment:
-New Tony Hawk game has been confirmed! See below for more details!
-This video was made in 2018, and is one of my earlier attempts at a documentary style video
-I mispronounced Mike Valleley & Elissa Steamer
-"Some surfer Kelly Slater" was intended to be sarcastic. He's obviously a professional surfer - the point I was making is that they started pushing out identical games for every type extreme sport, even when they didn't make sense for a video game.
-Natas Spin is a real move - I understand that - but spinning 200 times while doing a handstand is clearly a silly variation of the move, and highlights THUG2's distinct shift in a more goofy direction for the series -along with all of the other features like tagging, freak-outs, and riding a mechanical bull
-I love all these games, including THAW - but that doesn't mean they're not without their problems. The problems I highlighted are common complaints from reviewers back when the game released.

NEW TONY HAWK GAME CONFIRMED:
"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2"
Releases September 4th, 2020 for XboxOne, PS4, and PC (Epic Game Store Exclusive)
Created by Vicarious Visions (devs behind Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy & Spyro remake).
Built using the movement code from Neversoft (looks like it's using the THPS3 controls)
Developers are eager to make more Tony Hawk remakes if this one does well.

Thank you Activision/Vicarious Visions!!! If you stumbled on this video, I hope it helped!
Edit: NEW TONY HAWK GAME LEAKED
Supposedly a new Tony Hawk game is coming in 2020 according to a leak from the band "The Death Set"
Hey guys, thanks for watching! Unfortunately these retrospective pieces take up the most time and manage to obtain the lowest viewcount of all my projects, but I'm going to keep doing them because they're definitely my favorite to make. I have several more planned this year, including a retrospective look at Tomb Raider. If you have any suggestions for future videos, please feel free to let me know here!

THPS will always remind me of some of the best moments of my childhood. I played the original quite thoroughly at a friend's place, but the first one I owned was THPS3. I played every single game in the series after that up until American Wasteland. I remember one of the games on the original Xbox (I think it was THUG 2) that allowed you to import your own custom soundtracks, that was just amazing at the time. These games fueled my love for sports like this, also Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX and the MX vs ATV series. The X games came shortly afterwards and I could not get enough. Good times.

American wasteland is still my all time favorite tony hawk game. I put a ridiculous amount of hours in online lobbies. My first skateboarding game was THPS 1 but wasteland is still my favorite in the series. I truly dont understand why it gets so much hate. The combos people use to pull on the train map were insane.

The Tony Hawk games were some of my absolute favorite games growing up, I remember coming home from school just so I could sit down with my current TH game and play it for HOURS nonstop, I loved them so much.
I loved how each new entry made combos easier to make longer, how the levels got bigger and more complex, how fun it was just to skate around doing tricks on all the different environments.
I had all the main games, THPS1 and 2 on PS1, 3 and 4 on ps2, THUG 1 and 2, American Wasteland on 360, and project 8 on 360, and I could definitely notice a decline in quality past THUG.
I was excited with THPS HD came out that I bought it immediately on steam, but I was also immediately bummed out since it only had a handful of levels (FROM 3 GAMES TOTAL) and I KNEW the physics were off, I was failing tricks and combos that I know I could land in the actual games.
I didn't even get 5 because of HD, and I'm glad because it was just an insult to the Tony Hawk game fans.

Then I found THUGPRO and I fell in love with the game(s) again, seriously I love this community! Thank you everyone for supporting this series, it makes me so happy to see people so dedicated to helping others enjoy the game(s) the way they were MEANT to me enjoyed. It makes me tear up ;w;

Even though I agree with much of your criticism towards it, I really have a soft spot for American Wasteland

Hard disagree on THAW, I love those levels. Great video though.

Had to pause 4 minutes in to take in how much content they managed to cram into a game that was just a fraction of the size of today's games.

PS1 - less than 1GB
PS2 - less than 4GB
PS3/PS4 - 8GB Patches!

This is why I still believe graphics don't make the game, the content and gameplay does.

I remember playing the first game in the series off a PlayStation underground demo disc. It was the warehouse level, with a couple minutes, and “Superman” by Goldfinger playing non-stop. Never have I nor my friends played such a demo that repeatedly. I probably had ended up playing that demo warehouse level a whole two or three times more than the actual game (as much as I played that especially multiplayer).

Pro Skater 2 is one of the best games ever and easily my favorite in the series. Project 8 is the most underrated imo

I had the good luck of being a teenager when the PS1 and THPS1 appears, starting to doing skateboarding with my friends, on years where finding skate VHS videos or street music on cassettes was really hard (at least here)... and boom!! A pirated CD with a game we can share with our friends, with the best music I have heard on my life so far... when I unlocked the video of Rodney Mullen I couldn't believe what I were seeing, man! I ride my skate for another 10 years without been able to land a casper slide... man How I missed those old days... I felt blessed by all the things that coincide: skate with friends, first punk rock shows, first skate parks on country, Jackass on tv, first parties, and later due world recession, all those bands come to Southamerica for very first time and I could also see them. Thanks for those good old days.

I remember how excited I was for Tony Hawk 5. I remember thinking "This is going to be the last game made, they are going to end on a high. An old school online Tony Hawk game that will be played for years to come with your friends."

Imagine my shocked pikachu face when it required a day one patch to work because they shipped without content.

RIP franchise.

THPS 2 and THUG are the two greatest games in the franchise hands down!

This was such a great nostalgia trip! I played 1 through THUG 2, then Project 8 (all at release time). Never played any of the other releases, though.
I'd love to see this series rebooted, and done well.
