I hope more people are like me starting to see with greater clarity that being against Labour or against the Tories isn't going to take us anywhere. We have to be against them both. This attitude runs the risk of opening the way for Reform. So the progressive left has got to up its game and get some pieces on the board.

They did have a guy who was talking about fixing problems.. the party right actively worked against him, and bragged about it on the bbc..

He is Israel first, America second, Britain last

Starmer was never a socialist or even on the left of the party or even the centre left of labour .
He's a soft Tory and his policies are testament to this, never judge a politician by what they say, always judge a politician by which laws they pass .

Zarah Sultana would be the greatest replacement for Starver

Not to mention the inexplicable refusal to end the two child cap.

"Even Labour insiders think Keir Starmer is a failure"... British politics is absolutely crammed with failures! It's as though failure is a prerequisite of the job.

They CAN'T replace him with anyone with policies to fix these problems. It's not the individual that's the problem. They've spent 4 years achieving nothing because it's their ideology that's the problem. Their ideology is the cause of the problems, they can't solve any problems because of their ideology.

It's like the strategists looked at Sunak's 5 pledges and thought 'that really worked, let's do the same'

With this all in mind, I wonder how much egg has to keep piling up on James O'Brien's face before he will acknowledge it's there...

Like a dog chasing a car, Keir Starmer pursued power with no idea what to do with it once he has it.

Starmer does have one policy vision and that is for the safety and expansion of his heroine damsel in distress - Israel. Apart from that, he has no experience/idea about business, which is why he can cosy up to the likes of BlackRock, which use price gouging to make obscene percentage profits from the UK taxpayer for failed infrastructure projects (Private Eye has the figures.) He burbles his way through the press conference and Q & A, without answering a single question. He spouts the same little pieces, presumably fed him by Morgan McSweeney Todd. They talk about a landslide victory when Starmer's Labour won FEWER votes than Corbyn's in 2019. Yes they have a big majority (thanks to FPTP), but it's the anti-Tory vote, not pro Labour. Sunak became more popular than Starmer after the election, as did Farage, not because they are enticing, but because support for Starmer has crashed through the floor. Glenda Jackson warned that the voice would scupper him and I can understand why she said that, with his annoying adenoidal smug responses to serious questions. Indie journos still pine for him to embrace the Single Market and turn the ship around. They just remind me of yesteryear and Sarah Palin: 'How's that hopey changey thang going for yer?'

A spot on summary. The failure of the centre right and the exclusion of a left alternative will inevitably lead to a Tory-Reform government that will be very, very close to a fascist government.

Try to avoid conspiracy brain, but the Right couldnt have destroyed the chances of a Left alternative any better than Starmer has

@NoJusticeMTG Who was it who said the quote back when he first became leader or leading up to him becoming leader, something along the line of “he means nothing and he stands for nothing”?

You're right. I think a good number of us could see through this new round of "Style over Substance" leader.

I mean it is very rich when a labour government starts by keeping the kickdown tax on 3 + kids, and then cuts money for winter fuel from pensioners, but is all cozy with black rock 🪨, all this after saying they need austerity and that’s going to fall on those with the broadest shoulders, I mean it’s speeches are all disconnected from the realities they are creating. At best we are looking at a half measures budgets. It won’t deliver growth.
