I'm a producer and a mixing engineer for 25 years. As a producer I can achive this space (as I select sounds myself) but as a mixing engineer for others, I find it very hard not to end up with a mix that is always too dense. Any tips how to achive those "white areas" (also sometimes called Black Background) aka space in the mix (not talking reverb)

My right speaker blew so now im mixing on one speaker for the next 2 weeks.... Should be an interesting time for me. no clue how I will hear or do spacing right now.
