Superb presentation at a wide variety of scales on land. Out a sea similar patterns exist and some of these patterns correlate, across the subduction zone with patterns well into the continent, as the second questioner pointed to. W S America is the classic and simplist subduction zone, but this same ocean-well into the continent fault pattern correlations exist today globally. If this is true, how does plate tectonics really work, through geologic time?
