This animal is still part of indigenous Australians legends, so long after they were gone. Must have been terrifying to face with a spear.

I initially thought, “Oh a new animal!”. One of never heard of... like so many all over the world. But no, they’re extinct. But still very interesting.

I'm Australian and I've been to America about 10 times and I ALWAYS tell the drop bear story 😁😁

Thylacoleo might've lived on through distorted Aboriginal folklore memories. In parts of Southern Australia there are myths of vampiric goblin-like creatures with glowing eyes that attack people from the trees with their hands. There many different versions of this mythical beast, the most well known version is named Yara-ma-yha-who. It's not unlike the whole Bunyip = Diprotodon/elephant seal or Schelch = Megaloceros hypothesis.

It's my understanding that when this guy was roaming the Earth, Australia was rain forests so these guys probably raised all kinds of hell. Very cool video I've never heard of this animal.

So basically, an agile and muscular carnivorous wombat.

Now that we’re on the topic of Australia, maybe a video about the other extinct Australian megafauna? And since it’s close by, a video on the haast eagle or giant moa of New Zealand would be very interesting.

One of the best prehistoric marsupials of its time. Glad you covered them!

The nuts thing is, people still report sightings of something very similar to this animal

5:30 If I ever end up as a tourist in Australia and someone warns me about Dropbears, I'm going to have to ask if 'Are Dropbears better or worse than Dropcats?' just to be ornery now.

I am now convinced that The Princess Bride actually took place in Australia and that The Fire Swamp is in Australia

May we please have a video on the North American Pronghorn?! It is so crazy to see an animal that looks like it is from Africa, running around in Canada! <3

I've been binging animalogic and deep look lately, and I thought I had already watched this one. The joy when I found out it was a new upload was immeasurable

One of the beasties that I recall suggesting a while back on another Paleologic video. Such a bizarre animal, and I just can't get enough of the extremely unusual dental system they evolved for a carnivorous lifestyle (being more like a snapping turtle or an eagle than any other mammalian predators). Also a really nice rendition of it on your part too, and I like the little inclusion of the rock art illustration at the start that is one of the sources that implies human encounters with these animals.
