‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX

‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California

‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK

‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia

‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ – Dallas, TX

‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California

‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida

‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ – New York, New York

Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia

‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver

‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX

‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York

‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ – Dallas, TX

‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! – LA, California

The biggest thing that i experienced is that the blue belt blues hit you out of no where! I literally took time off at the prime of my life. I was in great shape, had a great job, great girlfriend etc..
Then i just decided i was "good enough" to not train 4 or 5 days a week like i use to. I'll come in 3 days a week.. then that turned into 1 day a week.. then, nothing. I took a break. got really familiar with beer and got super lazy and fat. Been a blue belt for 6 years. Took a year off. Came back in January of this year. Getting my bearings back. I won't quit. Never

My two brothers and myself received our blue belts yesterday. We have been pushing each other, holding each other to a standard, encouraging each other to train when we got tired or depressed, and all around just having fun. We are so addicted at this point the idea of quitting just does not compute. Thank you for some words of wisdom!

Solid advice Coach. 👍 Got my blue belt late 2019 and it's amazing how much of a difference it made. One day a confident striped white belt to the next day, a cautious blue belt. Experienced the whole "imposter syndrome" thing at first, shook that off, started to feel more comfortable with the belt a few months (and some taps) in and COVID hit. Now, to engage that very important attribute, perseverance, and get right back in there. At 51 now, I'm aiming to relish blue and keep my journey moving forward... the rest will follow. Oss!

I think people quit at blue belt because when you start training the blue belt seems obtainable, but the time is takes to go from blue to purple just seems like forever. Some people care more about the promotion than the knowledge.

Professor Tom is such a bright and optimistic person, which, aside from his obvious expertise, is a really important part of what makes him such a great teacher. This is a very encouraging video. Thanks for teaching us so much and making BJJ more fun

Really appreciate your perspective on this.

I loved this vid. As a blue belt I can say plateaus and obstacles do come around but focusing on the fun I have learning has been a tool through those tough days. I liken it to people on a diet or workout regimen to lose weight don’t let the plateaus hold you back or drive you away. Remember your goal and in jiu jitsu our goal everyday should be to have fun and learn jiu jitsu. If you stop learning BJJ you’re dead or you quit.

Thanks coach. This is the best motivational/reassuring blue belt video on youtube.

I think you should also address the issue of why most blue belts like to ask for a "soft roll" and then try to break every single joints and limbs of white belts.

Dope advice. It’s true that Blue belt is the belt to get deep in. So if you get specialised in a particular game and start figuring things out you should be proper dangerous at Purple and pretty much setup in your game during your time at Blue belt.

I took a hiatus from bjj just after getting my blue belt. Took me a long time to find my way back now I'm older I put a lot less pressure on myself and just enjoy the ride.

One thing I personally noticed at blue belt is that the environment that you grew into as a white belt starts to change dramatically (speaking for myself, though this may be relatable to some). The white belts I went in with and spent time with no longer have an interest for BJJ. People start moving on in life, and that is completely fine, but it really sucks to see people leave. I think its at this point that people make the choice to become devoted to the craft instead of the environment.

I just started bjj with GI about month ago alredy got stripe on white belt and respect from other guys since mostly i roll with blue belts and tap them out at least low and mid blues.. i personally do not care the belt as a belt but prefer the blue colour so waiting to get that.. i mean blue gi with blue belt is more fashionate 😂😎 Btw i do not try to be ignorant all belts should be earned by hard work and i do respect that. I got my blue belt on Sunday just gone. I got tapped by a super athlete white belt on the Monday. I'm 145 pounds. No one else tapped me though, and I nailed everyone else. Still can't get big Jon out of my head though.

Funny how you see/hear things just when you are supposed to...

Do you find that injuries tend to drop off at blue belt and above? I've been injured a few times as a white belt and I wonder if more experienced folks are less injury prone.

I cannot believe he referred to “coloured belts”, it’s “belts of colour”
