To answer everyone's question in one comment, no I don't think it works with other launchers (just the normal) and second once you download the file go in game and select the resource pack option. Then open your file explorer and drag the downloaded file into Minecraft. It will pop in and then you select it. Hope this helps.

I dont think this works with optifine unfortunately and I even tried changing gamma manually in the game options but it resets back to 1. So default launcher with this would have to be the only way you want this to work it seems
