Tairua Harbour - New Zealand

Tairua Harbour is a stunning and tranquil spot located on the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand's North Island. Staying at a hilltop house on the west side overlooking the harbour was magical - the highlight of our 5-week visit to New Zealand !
Surrounded by lush native trees & bush and dramatic hills, this harbour is known for its serene waters, beautiful beaches, and spectacular tide changes. As the tides shift, the harbour transforms, revealing sandbars and tidal flats, making it possible to walk a full kilometer, almost complete across, the northern part of the harbour. The ebb and flow of the tides create a dynamic environment perfect for sight-seeing, swimming, and kayaking.
