You can have a maximum of 8 multiplexers per I2C bus. They use I2C address range 0x70 to 0x77. Unfortunately the 7-segments displays have the same addresses so you’re limited to 4 channels per multiplexer in that scenario, still provides 64 devices.

If you’re using the multiplexer with I2C sensors that don’t have 0x70 to 0x77 addresses… for example, 0x20 address range, then you can put 8 devices daisy chained PER CHANNEL. 8 channels per multiplexer, 8 multiplexers… that’s 512 identical i2c devices on 1 bus.

I’m using them in a project already and they work great! Never, ever, ever again have to worry about being limited to 8 of the same i2c device per microcontroller.

It's hilarious seeing these switches now cloned by the chinese. If i remember correctly, these are originally a Danish design by the company MEC (Now APEM) and they were the latest and greatest in the 80s :D

Brilliant, I love those GPS chips <3
Question, can this PA1616 output a $GPZDA sentence? The one thing I disliked about the old module is that the sentence available would only spit out a 2 digit year, with no option for a 4 digit year, and ZDA sentences can do that :)

Is there some kind of 'attachment' board for items that are better suited to non-breadboard mounting? Like a Lego plate.
