Kit review: CSM 'Romfell' Panzerwagen in 1/35 scale

Obwohl Österreich-Ungarn vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg einige sehr fortschrittliche Ideen zum Thema Panzer und Radpanzer entwickeln konnte, so blieb doch eine Umsetzung dieser Konzepte beinahe vollständig aus. Ein Beispiel dafür ist der Romfell Panzerwagen aus dem Jahr 1915, von dem nur ein einziges Exemplar gefertigt wurde. Das Fahrzeug ist neuerdings von Copper State Models im Maßstab 1/35 als Bausatz verfügbar.
Der Bausatz präsentiert sich sehr hochwertig. Alleine die Bauanleitung ist schon ein Augenschmaus! Die Aufteilung des Bausatzes ist sehr gut durchdacht und die Teileanzahl ist recht überschaubar. Alle Luken sind offen baubar und eine Inneneinrichtung mit Motor ist vorhanden. Photo-Ätzteile sind keine beeinhaltet, werden aber auch nicht vermisst.
Der Bausatz kostet in etwa 42€, was mir ein wenig viel erscheint. Eine Preis von etwa 30€ wäre wohl angemessener. Immerhin lässt der Bausatz keine Wünsche offen und wird bestimmt seine Abnehmer finden.

Although Austria-Hungary was able to develop a couple of very modern ideas about tanks and armored cars before the First World War the actual implementation of these concepts was omitted One example was the Romfell armored car of the year 1915, with only one sample built. The vehicle is now available as a new release by Copper State Models in 1/35 scale.
The kit presents itself as a top quality product. The instruction alone is a true eye candy! The way the kit is designed is clever and the part count is not excessive. All hatches can be built opened up and an interior with a complete engine is included. There are no photo-etched parts, but they are not missed here.
The kit costs about 42€, which seems to be a bit much. A price tag around 30€ would be more appropriate. At least the kit is a care-free package and it will certainly find its way into many collections.

Another excellent review and of such a brilliant vehicle and one that I have always really admired. I loved how CSM designed the handbook to look very convincingly like an old manual, of which I used to have a large collection, although I doubt it smelled vaguely of fuel and oil as so many of the originals did. I'll be very much looking forward to hopefully seeing you build this one soon. Whilst I remember, thank you for always producing excellent English subtitles on these videos, which are much appreciated!

This is a very interesting model kit!!! I like the way the manufacturer included their instruction sheet to look like an old service manual. It appears that it has a complete interior too. I might buy this kit for a future build! Thank you very much for showing this review. I am VERY interested. :)

Nice review Michael... I picked my kit up this week but it was 10 shekels down under! I agree the build does not look too complex and I might start mine this week.. thinking of doing a Red Baron version, seeing as the colours are not truthfully known, I can have a what if!

Gute Vorstellung dieses etwas ungewöhnlichen seltenen Fahrzeuges, gleich mit der passenden Hintergrundinformation. Ungeachtet des Preises wird das Modell, da die Qualität sehr gut scheint, bestimmt den entsprechenden Modellbauer -und Sammlerkreis ansprechen.

Es ist immer interessant den historischen Hintergrund der Modelle und Bausätze zu erfahren. Besonders für jemand der zu diesen Themen keinen Bezug hat. So hätten in der Schule Geschichtsstunden sein sollen.
