I had seen a commercial I think on youtube showing masses of these plants in various flower colours. Fell in love! I asked (I'm in Canada) my local nursery retailer but they didn't have any. This week I was back there and sure enough, they had Lisianthus in 4 inch pots in a few colours, including the Lavender, and purple is my favourite colour. I realize that I'm in zone 4 and these will be annual, but I think it will be worth it. By the way the cost in May 2024 for one of these pots was $4.69 Canadian dollars.

Great video! Its hard to believe, but they were even more beautiful in person than the pictures & videos I saw online, but they were! I grew them for the first time last year (after seeing them in Nicole @ Flower Hill Farms' videos). I grew them from seed. I don't think it was as hard as people say it is, however it's DEFINITELY not a seed I would recommend a beginner seed starter start with! I ordered SEVERAL series for this coming year! I ordered the entire series of: ABC, Arena, Doublini, Echo, & Voyage. That way I should just about every color under the sun, from late spring/early summer, until fall! I started a small cut flower farm last year & they are just the perfect cut flower! Long, strong, straight, easy-to-harvest stems, extremely long lasting in a vase, & just oh so beautiful!

I've attempted to grow lisianthus in my hybrid tea rose bed before in the Northeast but I found them very difficult. I think the most important thing is free-draining soil, light and fluffy. Add some orchid, perlite or cactus potting mix to your soil with compost and plant them high or try them in a container.

Thanks, this is the info I was looking for. I bought one of these as a flowering plant half price in the supermarket. It was so beautiful (white with a pink blush), I just had to buy it. Having never grown these before & I'm glad they like warm conditions as I live in a Mediterranean climate in Australia.

I love Lisianthus. Grew it years ago in the summer and haven’t seen it in nurseries. Hope they come back like you mentioned. Thanks for all the details Angela!

Thats a nice green garden for such a hot area! Im trying to grow it from seed! It took about 12 days to germinate but they are teeny tiny super little first leaves... tiny!!! They are under full spectrum grow lights so here's I can't help but think the stems and buds look like chrysanthemums...

When you say "cut down to the rosette" regarding over-wintering them, do you mean cutting down to the base of the plant? I also love this beautiful flower & have had it my garden for many years but didn't know it could be a perennial in my warm climate area. TY for a great vid & info!
