Hope you all enjoy the video! A few commenters have pointed out that The Grayzone actually debunked the NYT story before The Intercept. Great catch! Their link has been added to the description.

As a child, I used to ask myself in history class, "How did anyone let the Holocaust get so bad? Why did no one call it out earlier?"
Now I know the answers to those questions.

As someone studying journalism. It really sucks to see how people in this field are bought out to spread a false narrative.

It's important to remember that the people who said that Saddam had WMD's and that the war on terror was about democracy are the same people in charge of our media today

I get so pissed anymore when I hear about what has happened to the Palestinians, especially the children, just because of my dad. What makes me even angrier is the sense of utter helplessness that I feel is unable to provide any assistance whatsoever. It is a truly maddening sensation.

In the wake of the Iraq war I remember seeing clearly how every news organisation and politician was just saying open racism and islamophobia without challenge, you could see the consent being manufactured before your eyes

The fact that you refuse to call the resistence terrorists is really brave and eye opening for me, as a Palestinian even I was coerced to say they're terrorists just before I can have any conversation about the genocide. I will never do that again. I was a coward.

This reminds me of a situation I experienced last year; where my English professor, two weeks after October 7th, decided to address what was going on in Palestine. She said that she held off on talking about it for this long, because she felt like she didn't understand the full situation. So after spending weeks "researching" (by that she meant looking through multiple different news outlets) she came to a very passive, two-sided conclusion. She essentially said everyone is suffering, and no one's really in the wrong, and the history is just so so complicated.

I later went to go speak to her in her office. We were writing a research essay and I decided to chose media analysis and how it reports on global events, which I needed to get a green light from her to do. She gave me the go ahead and we ended up talking about different events which led us to talking about Israel-Palestine again, and she said one of the craziest things I've ever heard in my life. "I don't think western media is doing a good enough job at condemning Hamas." I honestly didn't know how to respond to that. I genuinely thought she was joking, but she was dead serious. The conversation pretty much died after that and I left her office feeling just so betrayed. I already knew I probably wasn't going to see eye to eye with her, because of how two sided she was being earlier, but I just genuinely wasn't expecting her to say that. All these strong words for Hamas but nothing for Israel? How could someone of her education and her standing end up with a belief like that? Is she not aware of the biases that exist in the media? Could she not have used ANY OTHER source than just western news outlets? It made me so mad and so disappointed.

What i found personally frustrating is how, as a weekend news anchor for a small-midsize radio station in Canada, I got reprimanded for altering the AP News Copy regarding Israel and Palestine. I corrected the word “conflict” to genocide and some one called my manager, and quoted the exact time and sentence i said on Air to complain. So i can’t even alter the propaganda news copy i air to this small Canadian community because someone is literally waiting to timestamp the next time i call it a genocide

"You retain plausible deniability as you obfuscate reality"

Haven't heard it summed up that succinctly before. Nice.

The Gaza genocide is one of the most disgusting things I've seen in my lifetime. The fact that the US continues to support Israel is baffling to me.

To make you understand how did the American media often spin and twist their headline to sugar coat everything. Lets just describe the purpose of Unmarked Police car and the Police in civilian clothing:

"In the U.S you often see the Police using an unmarked vehicles that resembles a civillian vehicle or a public vehicle such as a Taxi or even a school bus to catch the criminals off guard. Inside the vehicle is a police in civilian clothing serving to watch community of interest areas to protect the people of New York."

Now if it was the bogeyman (such as China) that does the same thing, I imagine that this will be language they'll use to describe it:

"In the U.S sometimes you can catch a glimpse of the Police using an unmarked vehicles that resembles a civillian vehicle or a public vehicle such as a Taxi or even a school bus, the people are often unaware of their presence and that they are being monitored by the state. Inside the vehicle is a secret police whose sole purpose is to conduct discriminatory surveillance on ethnic minority areas to uphold the state's control on the people of New York."

It warms my heart to see some Americans still have their brains and hearts at the right place. It terrifies me to realise, that the absolute most of them are actively trying to stay as oblivious to the wrongdoings of their government as possible. I guess the media's work is nearly complete. They raised the population, most of whom prefer not to know.
