I share some general ideas for attacking the Modern Defence as white as I decimate my opponent (5-minute blitz).

Pretty hard to defend once you got ALL of your pieces attacking. Your opponent had several pieces sitting it out. After the Royal fork, he well and truly forked. Great job. 👏👏👏

Fun fact: There's a counter to the Modern that is very similar to the Vienna that you enjoy playing but gambits a centre pawn for two tempi can you guess what it's called? It's got a very funny name!

Agree, opponent was supposed to play d6. Didn't know how to play the Modern and tried to play a Stonewall Dutch (which he didn't know how to play either!)

A small trick to get Harry to attack Garry: Once you put your Bish on h6 not only does the Bish threaten BxB but simultaneously blocks the enemy's advance of the h pawn.

That was sweet ! I went back to work a month ago so my chess time has been diminished as well as YouTube time. Anyway...nice to watch a dismantling....

Thanks-well played! I face the modern/double fianchetto often as white or black-any good references on how to play against the modern?

I've been training hard with the modern. But the e6b6 modern been playing well with black with it. I get confused about names, but the engine says it's a scandy. Is it still a modern if he played g6 bc the coach very briefly shows it's a Scandy 9:18.?

I just found this channel, cool stuff! Thing is, your opponent here just played a very bad modern I feel like. If played better it can be such an annoying thing to play against. But I am lower rated, so what do I know.

It's wierd that someone can get to 1300 and still have such flawed game play. Not protecting the knight with e6 and then closing off the centre was literally doing your job for you. Then to miss that royal family fork? Maybe your opponent was having an alcho-chess evening? lol It's amazing how the weaknesses in his stonewall structure caused everything to collapse once the unprotected e6 pawn was removed.
