We learned these at school by repeating them again and again, like a song.
It worked well as I remember all of them except "lie, lay, lain" . For some unknown reason, I don't remember having learned this one.

What I have found the most fascinating since my childhood when I started learning English is that irregular verbs, with all their irregularity, form groups by how they made the past form. It's not completely random. Like rise rose risen and drive drove driven, catch caught caught and buy bought bought, say said said and pay paid paid, tell told told and sell sold sold. There is some number but still a limited number of those irregular paradigms, that observation always seemed so exciting to me.

This video reminded me the days when I spent a lot of time to memorize the irregular verbs. It was time-consuming but luckily I can memorize all of them now!
