Lots of people have asked how the BMPCC 4K compares with the BMPCC and we were curious too - so we did a quick comparison and included our BMCC camera also. Actually pretty surprised with the results TBH. We shoot with a wide assortment of cameras in our indie & DIY filmmaking endeavors including of course our iPhone (we routinely mix & match them depending on the project). What other cameras do you use besides your smartphones? Or do you primarily shoot with mobile devices? Right now we're really interested in getting one of those new Osmo Pocket cameras. :)

i have these 3 cameras. The bmpcc4k is a bomb (fps, 4k, low light...), but certainly the file look is a bit less cinematic, colours are more sature. BMCC and BMPCC was much more close to Arri look.

The bmpcc is a camera eerybody should have. It's beautifully essential. A masterpiece. The 4k version is nowhere near the pocket

I've done my own tests and they are parallel to yours. I recently purchased the BMPCC4K thinking of using my original BMPCC as a B camera. HOWEVER...it's going to work out better if I go the opposite. My original BMPCC will be my primary camera and only use my BMPCC4K for low light scenes and the rare/occasional slow motion shots.

I have a BMCC as well and I will be using it for a long time yet. I actually picked it up second hand after I got an ursa mini 4.6k and I have been able to match the colours really easy. Love blackmagic camera's!

Too many people are buying battleships to go fishing, if you get my drift. Just my opinion.

This just solidified why I want the original bmpcc.

Thank you very much for the video! I have BMPCC OG and BMPCC4k. Could you do a tutorial on how to mach the colors of the two cameras? I also use Davinci Resolve. Thank you very much and keep making these videos!

I have the 2.5k and still use it all the time. Back when I bought it used, the Bm Production Cinema Camera 4k had just came out. Comparing the two at 4k (i.e. upscaling the 2.5k), the 2.5k gave sharper results (!) than the native production cam 4k! Maybe thing got better with new firmware, but all in all I'm still in love with the BMCC 2.5k, best purchase I EVER made.

Hey really nice comparison video. It's just that you've said in a video that you will compare them outside and make another video. I didn't find such video in your channel :)

This scene well lighted as it is will look the same on iPhone also. Please use some scene that requires higher dynamic range, like indoor outdoor situations. And some low light scenes. That will better show camera differences.

it would have been interesting to just transform the log footage to rec709 using resolves built in plugin. Nevertheless nice comparison! I'm glad I've choose the 2, 5k over the 4k. (:

BMPCC 4K has a beautiful skintone and spot on white balance.
The BMPCC OG looks vintage soft and has green, yellow warm cast all over and has a bit of noise..i think 4k is more versatile camera you can colorgrade it like bmpcc OG looks, wider fov, bigger screen, anamorphic mode.

The BMPCC has a Super 16 sensor which is technically smaller than Micro 4/3. That's why the field of view was different compared to the newer BMPCC4K which is actually Micro 4/3.

You can't really tell here, but with a lot of the examples of an actual scenes shot with bmpcc and with bmpcc4k; the bmpcc's look just seems like a movie. The bmpcc4k's looks like a high quality documentary (e.g. discovery channel etc). I don't know what it is, overly sharp? it could be the editor's choice of grading, but the colours always seem a bit too saturated?
The only reason I got rid of my bmpcc and ordered the bmpcc4k, is due to the slo-mo ability (60fps in 4k is all i need). I still think the BM production camera 4k was an under rated camera.
