Need to get your rpm’s up on a single stage blower. The rubbers help but if you don’t have the power, it’ll bog down. My old man was a head mechanic at a JD shop locally and an Arctic Cat Cat master certified mechanic in the 70s and 80s. My first snowblower was a 75 JD with a single stage blower attached. Keep your rpms up, modify your governor if necessary, belt tight. In a pinch, rub cheap grape jelly on the belt and give it a couple minutes of run time. She’ll grab like a beast!

#49 snow thrower on my JD140H3, I would say throws better than yours, but hard to say if they are not throwing snow at the same time in the same place. But mine does not have the paddles. I did have them on at one point, but didn’t see any difference. Clean up your chute and auger and put about three coats of Tremclad clear gloss paint on there. Then one coat about twice a year. Works great for me. Slippery surface.
I would put a rpm tester on the engine to see if your getting around the 3600 mark at full throttle. No load on it.
Adding paddles to a thrower does help. Does not really throw farther, a little maybe, but the main thing is it does not bog the thrower or engine down. Engine maintains its rpm, which keeps the throwing distance good. I have added the extra paddles to my LGT 165 Ford thrower and Massey Ferguson 12 thrower.

Line the chute with crazy carpet and watch it fly double that

If you want to make a huge improvement in handling wet snow (like we have often in Nov-Dec. here downstream of Lake Erie)- add another "Paddle" between each stock paddle.
I was low on steel stock, so I just made tabs to take 4 layers of semi mud flaps bolted on, I also extended the stock paddles with steel welded on.
I was on yt and noticed the later Simplicitys had 4 paddles instead of 2. Hmm.
My old Broadmoor is a beast now, what I think happens is the chute is kept flowing steadier by having 4 slugs of snow going through instead of 2. Mike

up anything to keep that gap between the impeller and the housing is going to amkeit work much better. Thick conveyor belting works great or bailer belting also works.

You sure your belt is tight enough? Still doesn't throw far/high as mine

Upgrade the height of your chute, and it will throw the snow farther
