yes, it is basically the old charger with an extra slot for usb 3.0 super speed transfer, use the big charger if you want faster data transfer from your computer to your phone (vice versa) and faster charging, but the old one still works...

Is it the quad or the octa core model? I guess the quad due to lte?!

Look forward to your future reviews with this. I am hearing the speaker is much weaker than the note2 and picture quality of camera not as good as s4. I could be wrong just what I read. I am hoping to upgrade from my note2, love the screen on note3
