Keeping up with common maintenance items is crucial to keeping your Volvo running in perfect order and is generally a simple task in terms of installation. By doing the maintenance yourself you'll save time, money, and you'll know the job was done right. Jay is here to show you how to get this quick and easy job done right.

Spark plugs and ignition coils are often overlooked by average owners since they're only changed once every 50k-100k miles and are usually hidden under layers of plastic or metal. However, they're important in keeping engines running smoothly with no misfires. If you notice a rough idle, intermittent loss of power, or otherwise unusual engine behavior, you may have faulty plugs or coils.

I suggest doing them one at a time. This way you don't get confused and the wiring stays in the original position. Greetings from a Volvo driver.
p.s. Love your channel!

bit of advice before taking out the plugs make sure there is no debris etc in the plug recess, if possible blow out the recess to clear any crap in there so it does not fall into the cylinder, then remove the plugs

Wow, great video. Did the job on a 2003 XC90 2.5T, only replacing the plugs just for maintenance. Did not have to remove the cross member, seems that XC90 has just enough space. Thanks!! made the job very easy.

Nice, but no mention of the tools used to remove / replace the spark plugs. No need for remove the cross bar thingy. However it's helpful to remove the turbo vent hose on the back ends to loosen. My 05 xc70 of uses 8mm bolts for the coils.

Thank you, my 2006 XC70 was diagnosed with multiple misfires P300, P301 and P303. I replaced the plugs and coil packets, issue resolved. Thanks again

Great video. Concise and to the point. So many of these DIY videos are filled with time wasting commentary.

This helped very much. FYI, for a 2007 S60, you will need different wrenches than what are specified here.

Thank you so very much for making this video! These instructions were spot on for my 2004 VX70/ Between this video and your prices, FCP Euro is my #1 choice for parts and service! I already had Bosch plugs or would have purchased the Volvo OEM parts.

Shouldn't the area around the old spark plugs be cleaned Prior to removing them? To avoid debris from getting in the cylinder?
What is your advice on cleaning the area around the old spark plug. I realize some spark plug ports are clean but mine are not on my 2004 s60 2.4l.

98k on my 2002 V70, just replaced coils. Plugs were done recently. Kept the factory coils which were all working fine.

I have a 2006 Volvo S60 that needs ignition coils and am going to attempt it thanks to this video.I got the car 2 years ago for $500 from a relative's mother-in-law. It ran great for the first year, then it became a money pit. I've had the mass airflow intake done and the oil trap and some other things I'm forgetting. This will be the last attempt at saving this car before I get rid of it. Anyone here done the coils for the same model I have and if it went okay or not. The local Volvo dealer wanted to charge me 1K to do it and I said, "Nope!"

how frequent do these original Volvo plugs need to be replaced on a 2007 V70 P2 2.4 gasoline non-turbo engine?
