Denver taxpayers are gonna have to pay big time to settle this one. He most likely has a 1st Amendment right to be a whistleblower and bring forth imminent safety concerns to the public. Does not appear he brought forth those concerns out of anything but a concern for the students in his school. Dumb decision by DPS. He doesn't appear to have violated any confidentiality laws, etc. as he didn't name the student, etc. Pretty clear his speech was related to a major public concern, wasn't part of his routine duties, and that the district appears to have retaliated against him for alerting the public to a serious public safety concern. This person has been principal for TWELVE YEARS and probably has had good personnel reviews. The fact that his firing appears directly related to his speech about an overriding public safety concern is damning. This is going to be costly for DPS.
