Verizon 8800L MiFi Jetpack - Reboot & Disconnect Issues Update

Update: The 1S Update came out in early Aug 2019 that fixes most issues.

The Verizon Jetpack 8800L was released in October 2018 and has been riddled with ongoing reboot and disconnect issues for many.

We've been working with manufacturer Inseego to diagnose and beta test potential firmware fixes. We currently have a 8800L with the 1R beta firmware release - and it's much more stable.

What is the status of Verizon pushing this firmware to everyone?

Firmware Update 1S is now being pushed by Verizon! It should be automatic, or check your Software Updates on your Jetpack under the Menu.

You folks were the ones who got me hooked on getting this and the plan before they killed it. I REALLY can't say enough about how much I appreciate all your hard work and keeping us up to date. This particular video helps us all to understand what in the heck is going on with the whole mess. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! You guys are great!!! :)

I signed up for their $70 prepaid data plan the last day it was available & had so much trouble with the 880L that I returned it. None of the several Verizon sales or customer support staff even acknowledged even being aware of issues with the device much less if any corrective steps were in the works. So after 12 days I returned it loosing the $50 restocking fee & the month of service. This experience with Verizon is likely to be my last if I have any other option. No customer should have to pay $120 for awful service & no idea if or when it might be corrected.

Unfortunately I’m on update 2A and still experiencing the random rebooting of the device. Very frustrating. Thanks for the video & information.

April 2020 and still having these issues. If this thing wasn’t owned by my employer - I would have taken a sledgehammer to it a week ago when it started rebooting every other minute. Unbelievable. I’d have better luck using my phone as the hotspot if I was allowed.

My 8800L was rebooting constantly. Changing sleep settings to “never” cured my issues, no problems at all now.

Appreciate the update. I purchased one of these and locked in the unlimited plan based on your advice a couple of months ago and would like to see Verizon stand behind their products. I noticed yesterday I was not getting a signal through the MiFi but was getting a decent signal through my iPhone 10 on Verizon. So far, not impressed if it doesn't work better than my phone which I already owned and pay a separate plan for every month.

Oddly enough, at no point in the past year did they push the update to my device, I just checked and there is an update available, I’m really hoping this brings stability and stops the random restarts. We use the device for streaming (we’re in the process of getting a bonded device but it will take some time), and every time it either dips to zero upload (which actually we can handle as we have a little buffer), or it completely restarts (and completely wrecks our stream). Very frustrating as the antenna strength and speed quality are far more than adequate, but reliability trumps all else when it comes to streaming.

Hello I have a question I have one of these but every time I try to connect it it asks me to log in and takes me to the admin website and it just doesn’t let me connect.what do I do?

The 7730L which we bought in 10/18 does the same thing. We have the Verizon unlimited plan that you guys suggested at the same time last year. It has been super annoying as we work on the road too. The 7730 usually drops connectivity 3-4 times a day. Could it just be that Verizon's network management is such that instead of slowing down you down, it kicks you off the network? Seems pretty coincidental that both jetpacks are doing it. I know you said in the video others are finding the 7730 more reliable, but that has not been our experience.

Has Verizon said if they have a good reason for holding back on the updates? Maybe security patches or something like that or is the hotspot not enough of a money maker to get them to move faster?

Verizon to release service update 8/7/2019. Go into settings on your 8800L and look for updates, or wait for the network to push it to your device.

I had this plain and could not deal with it rebooting and dropped it for a month and I had 2 days to reconnect my plain before they canceled this plain. I have had this rebooting issue for months now; 1-2 mins and 5-7 mins and then 17-20 mins before it REBOOTED.

I use a Jetpack 6620L connected to a Wi-Fi router for internet throughout the house. It has been the most stable for me more so than newer models. The others had higher speed tests but the 6620L has been the most reliable and stable Jetpack I've ever used.
