How is California going to deal with this huge increase in electric power demand when their grid can't handle things now during heat waves or fire season?

This is absolutely idiotic.
Much of air pollution in California does NOT come from California but from across the ocean from India and China and much of that pollution settles in the valleys around Stockton, Modesto and other cities in the growing areas.
Gavin Newsom had to tell people in the state NOT to charge their EV vehicles when the state had brownouts last year and the power has gone out several times already this year in Martinez, Ca. where I live and a number of towns and cities in this area have seen power go out for DAYS brcause P G & E cannot repair above and below ground power lines because of the unprecedented and record rain and snow storms we have had in Northern California and also in the rest of the state and parts of Nevada served by either P G & E or Nevada power.
AND what will the ecofreaks in Sacramento and our legislature do if we get more massive wildfires that take out power poles, lines, transmission stations and transformers or a major earthquake or even a tsunami occurs and knocks out power for days, weeks or months ?
They do these green rules, regulations and laws to pander to their far leftist base while never thinking of the economic and social cost of their decisions.
Like banning internal combustion cars, gas ranges, ovens, and water heaters and now diesel trucks.
With no way to replace them easily or cheaply and some homes, restaurants and buildings were built to run on gas and are old and cannot be retrofitted.
AND TAANSTAFL still applies. ( There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch - Robert Heinlein ).
The power has to come from somewhere and if you ban natural gas and coal and nuclear as many in this state and elsewhere want, wind power, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric power will not be able to make up for the loss of power generation and we will see massive brownouts and blackouts all over the US if this green and politically correct insanity is allowed to continue.
But the majority of people who vote in this state vote Democratic and the majority of our state and city and county officials are leftists or those who pander to every leftist pressure group so nothing will change here until some people wake up and realize that their government keeps TELLING people HOW to run their lives in the name of disease, pandemics, air pollution or whatever idea is trendy to a vocal minority of people group at any given time.
Common sense does not prevail and won't until the people who care are forced to leave the state forever to find places that don't enact insane laws.
And finally the cost of all of this change will not come from truck manufacturers.
It will be inevitably passed down to the consumer of goods and services no matter where they live in California and if these laws are not enacted elsewhere then trucking companies may decide it is not worth the cost in the short run to DELIVER goods and manufactured items to California and stop doing business here.
It is up to everyone in the country to tell their government leaders to stop this kind of control over how people live.
Whether or not they will have the courage to do so without being personally attacked by the pressure groups remains to be seen.
But we are on the slippery slope to government control of all of our lives and it needs to be stopped NOW.

"We took paradise and turned it into hell. It was very hard to destroy California, it's got huge amounts of timber minerals, oil, natural gas. So it was very hard to destroy that inheritance but we did. We have the highest gasoline process in the United States. We have almost half of the nation's homeless people. We have one-third of the nation welfare recipients. We have the highest income tax, it's sad." ~Victor Davis Hanson

This will be interesting. I am from Europe so we have experience with such infrastructure. Prepare for electric powerouts in many areas. Good luck.

They tried to 15 years ago. They have Amazon CNG trucks. Don't get me started on the fact that natural gas plants are being phased out. They don't want nuclear because of Fukushima. No more coal. Wind and solar won't be enough. Hydroelectric energy won't be enough because it requires more dams reservoirs. They don't want water storage because the water quality is lower and it's bad for the fish

So expect the cost of goods and services to skyrocket. Because of increased cost of electricity.

Now power plants get a turn to pollute more to make up the difference.

Professor's from Stanford University said that charging EVs every night will be too much for our power grid to handle.

Interstate trucks are Federally regulated because they are interstate commercial vehicles essential to our economy and National security.
They are already designated and decaled as clean vehicles.

California really said “The cartels are fine because we profit from them, but diesel trucks gotta go” 🤡

And just how are they going to power rigs to get food distributed all over the state? California has gone completely insane, suicidal!

so when the power grid goes down everyone will be screwed. Time to leave California.

Wow this is some Venezuela or great reset kind of stuff. Newsom has done nothing to boost or strengthen the power grid but he & others keep exponentially increasing the demand upon it. The result is going to be bad bad bad & them forcing us along to get there will be extremely painful

I wonder how much stress this will put on our grid, especially Los Angeles 4kv primary voltage.
