A cinematography class in Cleveland, Ohio was caught mid-semester with a slate full of projects and an order to shutdown. Professor Miriam Bennett, who started the Film and Media Arts Program at Cuyahoga Community College back in 2005, corralled her students onto Zoom to regroup. She was racking her brain for a way to keep the class connected, give them something tangible to work on, while maintaining brand new distancing measures imposed by the school, the city and the state of Ohio. Meanwhile, songwriter Kate Tucker was faced with a dilemma. Launch the first single from her new EP at the onset of a global pandemic while the world was still reeling from a shutdown, or stop the music, and the message -- that a little bit of love goes a long long way.

Tucker and Bennett happen to be longtime collaborators and while sharing their woes, an idea was born. What if a little bit of love could go a long way, carried by the creative energy of Bennett, Tucker, and a handful of digital media students working their six degrees of separation across the planet, till everyone was indeed connected. The call went out -- friends and loved ones with a camera or smartphone willing to follow some remote direction, please show us where you are and what it looks like outside your window. The response was heartwarming, and staggering; a handmade documentary of our global condition, an uplifting visual of just how strong our love is.

As Italians joined in song from behind open windows and New Yorkers leaned out of balconies applauding first time responders, a dance class at Tri-C was choreographing moves to practice in sync, miles apart, seconds together. The word caught on and soon people were dancing in Nigeria, Israel, Australia, Brazil... Everybody knew somebody and within a few short weeks, footage was pouring in from over 50 people across 5 continents, all connected to someone on the project, all filmed to “A Little Bit of Love” by Tucker who was quarantined in her home state of Ohio, hoping her music could provide some small joy amidst widespread uncertainty.

Behind the scenes footage would reveal that much laughter ensued in the making of “A Little Bit of Love,” as family members were roped into participating by virtue of their presence, unavoidable at the time. An honest commentary of life in the time of pandemia, the video shows just how connected we are to one another, no matter how far apart.
