Now this is how to do an informative short factual video. If every video was like this instead of self absorbed people taking 30 minutes to explain less than this man just did in 3, we could all actually learn some stuff. Good video man.

One of the things I found out that might be helpful. If you have a downed tree or a tree that must be removed, you can use Osage orange to make fabric dye. The wood has a water soluble color in it. Get a good handful of wood chips and boil them in water for 15-20 mins. You will have a yellow dye.

I've heard the thorns are so big that a hedge is impenetrable, like a barbed wire fence.

I made my mailbox post out of it years ago and attempted to put some screws into it to hold the mounting plate for the box It would not accept screws. It literally will twist off the head of any screw you put in it if you don't pre drill your holes

I have a few osage-orange growing here in So. Minn. on the zone 4/5 line, seed collected from central Iowa, but they tend to die back every year due to cold...

It is still used in southern Illinois for fence posts.

This tree is very tough to knock down with a 20k lb dozer. cut the roots on three sides went to push and nothing..taproot is incredible! The tree was maybe 6 to 8 inches in diameter.

It’s not an orange but it can be prepared more like a breadfruit and the pith can be consumed and is a good source of starchy energy.
