It's a crime that we didn't domesticate Dodos. They were practically 99% there. A big doof of a bird that could have been the ideal pet. What a waste.

That's probably the saddest and yet best video so far. Like, he was just a chill guy. All he wanted was to eat and sleep in peace, and then along came humans. It's good that we never forgot, it's bad that this is all we have. Stories and memories.

To add insult to injury, journal entries from sailors who ate dodo meat called it tough and disgusting. Like, damn, you literally roast me to sustain yourself and keep cooking long after I'm dead. 😅

Sometime in middle school, one of my friends kept affectionately calling me a dodo since I kept acting dumb. I ran with it and it became a little in joke, but then it just stuck. Now I'm weirdly obsessed with them. An animal I wouldn't have thought much about otherwise, but now I have a great appreciation for. Great video. The loss of the dodo needs to mean something.

At some point in the distant past birds flew to that remote island. Over time the lack of predators and the easy life of gathering berries made them grow larger, flightless, and not particularly clever. But they were perfectly suited for their island. Until humans came around and killed them all.
