Indigenous people can have their own day. Not Columbus day

The natives were at war and enslaving and colonizing other tribes long before Columbus showed up. They only use the term “colonize” when it’s Europeans. That’s an issue.

Let’s give Columbus credit where it’s due: he was a product of his time, a time when exploration and conquest were the norm. It’s ridiculous to blame him for using the technology and methods of his era, just because native populations hadn’t developed gunpowder or advanced weaponry. And calling Native Americans "native" ignores the fact that their ancestors migrated from Asia. They simply didn’t have the immunities Europeans brought over—something no one could control. Twisting the realities of the 15th century to fit modern sensibilities does a disservice to history. Columbus, for all his flaws, changed the world, and that’s a fact.

Most people don't realize that Columbus had four voyages. NOT ONCE did he ever set foot on the shores of America. So, I don't understand why we even celebrate his day here in the USA. He never came near our shores.
