Thank you for this! We need more Wacom tutorials! A lot of people would benefit from knowing more about individual settings within the preferences of the tablet. Specifically going over your settings for mapping the tablet, the custom click sensitivity, and other hidden features would amazing. I'm still getting used to mine and have done a lot of fine-tuning the settings but a video going over what your settings are and why they are set that way would be super helpful :)

It's great that the Wacom devices allow such flexibility and fast workflows. I don't personally like flipping the stylus around, but I have plenty of customization going on with my art apps. Especially Clip Studio Paint. Another thing that is good with Wacom is that you can creat toolbars of virtual buttons. I assign the most frequently used things to my EK remote and stylus, then I have a set of toolbars for menu items or layer functions. It' great.

Strange, I have a 28 year old Wacom, and still works perfectly. They are the best.

I currently use a XP-PEN Star G640 . I have no problem with it except for some scratchy noises one time (it stopped now). I don't use it on a regular basis so I don't really know if it's a good choice .

If you don't have a tablet, then simply change the hotkey for creating the new layer.
I've changed it be a simple Shift+1. I would use F1 instead, but I use a laptop that requires the function to be pressed before using F1-F12 keys.

Excellent idea, Nathaniel -- Thank you! I will try it. Only, I like the idea of programming ⌘⇧N, instead of ⌘⇧¯⦦N; because, that way, we can name our layers as we create them. In the long run, don't you think that saves time?

On windows I use auto-hotkey to convert midi notes to Keyboard shortcuts so I can just push buttons on my midi controller to do PS shortcuts (or sequence of shortcuts, like actions) instead of doing finger gymnastics with my non-Wacom hand

If your hand is always on the keyboard just do command+j Photoshop default command. Flipping the pen is not saving any time at all of anything it's bad for the wrist. Using the buttons on the Wacom and setting themntonwctions or shortcuts is better

Question: How did you insert that little screen inside photoshop where it says "your name and IG?"

Or do like I did and create an Action for creating a new layer which requires only a quick, single tap... no flipping the stylus over.

Does anybody else agree with the current MAC OS mojave - The wacom bugs so much ( specially if you just leave it on either the touch / pen stops working) has to restart constantly ? My apple wireless Mouse disconnects much more frequently now as well.
