Margot Gerritsen: A technical conference featuring all female speakers

The Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide.

In her introductory remarks at the third annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference, Professor Margot Gerritsen, director of the Stanford Institute for Computational & Mathematical Engineering (ICME), explained the increasing importance of data science across multiple industries. Today, she noted, many decisions in industry, policy, commerce, social sciences and medicine are being made using data science, and the people who analyze and draw conclusions from the data need to represent diverse perspectives.
