Shri Rama completed the last rites of Jatayu and named that place Le-Pakshi. In Telegu Le-Pakshi means "Rise, Bird" indicating his salvation.

Jatayu didn't fall at Lepakshi. If you follow Ramayana then there are two places where Jatayu came in story.

1. When Rama reached Panchvati then Jatayu met with him and introduce himself as Friend of King Dashratha. Place where Jatayu and Rama met first time was known as Lepakshi.

2. When Jatayu had fight with Ravan. This fight was start after chasing Ravan by Jatayu. This fight was ended at Chadaya Manglam where Jatayu fell on earth when Ravan cut his one wing known as today's Jadayupara.
