I am 62 years old. I have and Valve Index (PC) Quest 3 (Standalone) and a PSVR2 (Console gaming) they all have their strengths and weaknesses. But I love them all. Ever since I played Wolfenstein 3D in 80s I dreamed of this. Yes I live my dreams come who don't know VR don't know what the hell they are missing.

Just bought a ps vr2 but will take a few weeks to get it. Tbh I'm not too interested in vr games but I want to play gt7 in vr which seems amazing! Can't wait to get it 😬. Big plus is the recently announced pc compatibility will definitely finally be able to check out half life Alex!

I totally agree. They have 3 different VR systems/ platforms for different kinds of people. We need to accept it and love it. There was a VR for people who have PC people VR for people who have A PS 5. And there's a VR for people who have none above This kind of crap what going on in the world nowadays. Their communities for everybody. More we can accept everything more. The world will be a better place is all about acceptance and understanding without it. We are lost. There are benefits and cons to everything I play VR and non vr

I agree for the most part. It's a fine line though, as justified criticism toward a platform holder's actions/decisions, or toward a piece of hardware's limitations, could still put off people who are new to VR. But we need to voice those legitimate criticisms.

I agree though that it should never extend toward hating on every aspect of a headset, or especially toward the people who enjoy that platform. I try not to do that. Honestly, I hate meta as a company. I think they're shady AF. But I've still recommended Quest headsets to people. I think at best meta is a double-edged sword and they've done a lot of harm to VR, but they're investing more in it than anyone else by far, and they have expanded the market.

I also have a ton of criticism for Sony. As a diehard PSVR 1 fan, they've broken my heart with the way they mishandled PSVR 2 from the start. I still plan on buying a PSVR 2 though, as there are a lot of great games on it, even if Sony dropped the ball with first-party support, messaging, and marketing (and arguably with the price point).

At the end of the day I want VR to succeed, and I think embedded tribalism is only going to hold it back.

Agreed, I was in the market for a VR headset and I want to share my experience, I was looking between meta quest 3 and psvr2 and when I found out that the psvr2 needed a 600$ console and it didn't have any passthrough or PCVR support the quest 3 was a clear choice for me, I'm not hating on Sony on this VR front (regardless of the shit they've done with PC games) but we need healthy completion and rn pico is doing it way better than Sony, and pico has less deeper pockets I just don't see a new user going for psvr after comparing it with the quest or the pico, I hope Sony steps up their game because we NEED competition form a big company or else meta is just gonna dominate and set the rules for VR going forward

I love my Quest 3. I have pretty much just played Golf+ lately, but I played through Resident Evil 4 a bunch of times on my Quest 2. I just got a PSVR2 to play the RE VR games on it. I would every VR headset if I could afford it. I tried Red Matter 2 on the Quest 3, I couldn't believe how good the graphics are. I hope VR keeps going, even though Sony seems to be telling me I wasted my money cause they're not going to support VR much longer. Hope that's not true. Great video!

1000 % . I have tried multiple times to explain how STUPID it is for the VR community to have rivalry between ANY negativity hurts ALL of VR not just one company . It doesn't even make sense for them to even be competing at this moment and time until we hit mass adoption and THEN they can compete.
I feel ya here However the people you would hope to reach will NOT listen. Hell, some of the people that have been in VR the longest STILL don't understand that you cannot sell something at an astronomical price when they cannot conceptually comprehend it until they actually use Meaning, we NEED the quest to progress VR further and build the playerbase . Seems pretty common sense, right ???
Both the pcvr only and the psvr 2 only folks cannot get it through their thick ass skulls that we are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, soo they engage in the moronic action on crapping on any and all VR progress in general while simultaneously complaining that VR needs to get better... like they are just supposed to skip all the steps to get to better VR and just pull it out of their ass like magic
MOST .. and I mean most people do not understand VR, that even goes for the people that are into the tech themselves ... some are worse because they THINK they understand it
End of the day .. VR will be just fine . They are permeating the landscape with VR and overwhelming the market until it is inevitable . Luckily Meta will keep going no matter what happens and no matter how much the VR community itself works against them .... but YEA, it is kind of annoying .
Side note .. The phenomenon about this that get me the most is this also RUNS NEW USERS Most new people to VR start with Quest, and then IF they find their way to the community there is a very high chance a majority of the VR community will tell them what they just purchased is " not good enough " and " the games suck" . Effectively running off people from VR or at least from their own channel ... some of them have been stagnant on subscribers for YEARS and juuuust cannot figure out what it happening .... Oh, I don't know, MAYBE it is the fact that they tell EVERY single potential new subscriber that the Quest they just bought is The most counterproductive part of the VR industry by far lol

Vr isn't new, I think a lot of people already got into vr just to put their headset in the closet. Vr is incrementally slow at progress. Maybe even the next gen headsets aren't going to make people get into vr. Vr has to not be what it is today, it needs to hook you in permanently somehow. You have to give vr headsets away for free for people to adopt it, even that won't make it more popular.
