So I know most people here are using these songs to work to (especially in quarantine) so here's a reminder/checklist to make sure you're ready for your work / why you might still not be concentrating <3

- Have you got water with you and have you been staying hydrated? It's hard to concentrate when you are feeling unpleasant and thirst definitely is one of those unpleasant feelings!

- Have you been eating the right amount of food? It's hard to work on an empty stomach as you have less energy therefore less brain power!

- Have you been getting enough sleep? Being tired is one of the most common reasons for getting distracted as your mind can just drift off out of nowhere without you realising. If you haven't been getting enough sleep then I encourage you to start as it will improve not only your concentration but your mindset and it's a huge aspect in life!

- Are you wearing comfortable clothes? If you're at school you might have a school uniform therefore you can't use this tip but if you do have power over what you're wearing, it's best to be in what makes you comfortable so you don't get distracted by itchiness or whatever else uncomfortable clothing may give you.

- Are you anxious? It's okay to feel anxious, it's natural and there's very little you can do about this. If there is a specific thing causing this then try to sort it out. Of course it's not that easy so start off by thinking of solutions; they can be as crazy as you like and they don't have to be logical, you just have to brainstorm what could solve your problem. Now you think about the pros and cons of each solution and you use those to find out which solution will work best for you, then you can try this solution and once you've tried it, note down how it worked out for you so you know next time you should either do it again or try a different solution. This doesn't work for everyone but it's a way I've been taught to cope and I believe in you!

- Are you in a place for work? Your mind gets used to where you are for each thing you do therefore if you are working in your bed, you're probably not working to your best ability as your mind is used to sleeping when you are in this position. It is important to have a set place to work so you can get used to doing work in an area suitable for working.

- Are you sad? Feeling sad is also natural and it's not easy to get away from sadness. If you think you're not capable of making yourself happier quickly then take a break. During that break have some self-care time, maybe put on a face mask, read a book, take deep breaths, do things that will calm you. When you are feeling ready, get back to work. If you have something / someone who you know will make you instantly happy then use that to make you smile (personally some YouTubers really make me smile and distract me from the bad things so I highly recommend you to watch Wilbur Soot, I have recommended him to most of my friends and every one of them have loved him). If you are in need to talk to someone about sadness then I suggest booking a course with Healthy Minds - or if you can't do that for any reasons reply to this comment with one of your socials and I will be here to support you and give my best advice for you. <3

- Can't get something off your mind? This could be a person, a catchy song etc. My best advice for this is to do a distracting activity that can make you forget what you're constantly thinking of. Before working, I suggest go on a run and listen to music (if you have a song stuck in your head then don't let that one play). These are two distracting things that can distract you from your thoughts or anxieties and there are many more you can find!

- Is it too hot? Where I am right now, the weather has been very hot and it's been hard to concentrate because of the heat. I kept just continuing with work and ignoring the heat but it didn't go well and I procrastinated a lot. If it is a warmer temperature than you wish to work in, open a window or turn on a fan until you are feeling fine temperature wise.

- Are you healthy? This ties in most of my questions: sleep, thirst, hunger, anxiety, sadness. Take care of yourself. You are worth it! It's okay not being okay sometimes and it's natural to everyone, just some people experience it more than others. You are loved even if you don't feel it. You are cared about even if you don't know it. You were born onto this beautiful earth to experience life and although life has it's ups and downs, you can get through this and when you do it will be so worth it. When you can feel happy, when you can feel confident in yourself. You will live a good life, you just need to believe and take action on your problems to solve them. You're worth every breath of air you take and every crumb of food you eat. You have worth and you need to believe it! I love you, I support you, you can do this. I believe in you and so should you.
