What could May/Brendan 'canon' Pokemon team be?

While in the Pokemon Games the Player Character is left intentionally blank so that you can project yourself on to them and feel like you're experiencing the Pokemon World from their perspective, in the grand scheme of Pokemon's Lore, each player character has a name, personality, and influence the events of Pokemon greater 'canon'!

Although each character is technically 'canon', we've never actually seen what Pokemon Teams they would use, and in this video series I speculate and share my ideas on what Pokemon Teams I think they could use! This video focuses on the Generation 3 Protagonists - May and Brendan!

Been reading a lot of your guys' feedback on the team videos (mostly that a lot of people feel I'm too rigid with the criteria I look at, which kind of produced a lame team for Brendan and May (which is why I included a Metagross even though its post-game haha)), so I'm gonna try to make them a little more flexible starting with Gen 5 (I made the Gen 4 vid already ;~;). Will still look at a lot of the same criteria, but will also focus more on Pokemon that are decent and/or represent a generation better!

You should've included a flying type (probably Swellow), because when we beat our rival (after recieving our Castform), he/she gives us the HM Fly and literally fly away after the dialogue. That's a canonic situation, right?

Another criteria I think could work is a pokemons popularity/iconicness for said generation.
For example, all of Red's pokemon are extremely popular and are super iconic to gen 1!

Like last time, I'm going with the adventure Manga for their 'canon' team:
Brendan (Ruby) : Swampert, Mioletic, Castform, Mightyena, Delcatty and Gardevoir
May (Sapphire) : Blazikin, Aggron, Donphan, Gallade (ORAS), Tropius and Walord

Since this is gen 3, I can actually see a double battle with one or both of them. Castform could easily use sunny day to help Blazikens fire moves and Sceptile's solar beam or rain dance to help swampert out.

If we go by Anime rules. May is Normans kid and choses Torchic so theoretically Brendan is Birchs kid and would have either Sceptile or Swampert on their team. I think in one of the Pokemon movie openings we see Brendan battling with a Swampert, so I think that's what he chose.

EDIT: so I went and checked and in movie 6 he uses a Shiftry and Aggron in the opening and in Movie 9 he uses a Swampert. And in movie 11 he battles DPPT protagonist Lucas's Magmortar using a Ryperior.

Technically. Weather was introduced in Gen 2, with Sun, Rain and Sandstorm. Gen 3 just introduced the Hail weather.

I think a better equivalent to Red's Team for Brendan would be:
Manectric [plusle for ruby, minun for sapphire, as all 3 are found on the same route]

I actually made my own team for these two based around ORAS.
1. The starter of choice
2. Slaking (to represent Norman)
3. Tentacruel (for Practicality)
4. Either fossil (because Wynaut)
5. Gardevoir (to foil Wally)
6. Latios/Latias (you can obtain them in the main quest)

There's also a possibility for every Canon team that they'd have the mascot legendaries for their respective games cause it could be argued that Red had the 3 starters and Pikachu because they were game mascots not cause they were starters

Red's team is complicated for me. While he did get all four starters in Yellow, nothing in the main series really reflects Yellow's events besides that and more reflects Red and Blue. (besides the occasional surfing Pikachu nod) It's possible Red's team is simply made to be the opposite of Blue's but for the same purpose.

Blue hides his canon starter by using none of them and all the replacements and Red hides his canon starter by using all possible Kanto starters. Would also explain why he along with Blue are the only ones that don't lead with a signature Pokemon in the PWT despite some considering his to be Pikachu.

Anyway a gen 3 canon team would be really rough. I was worried when you'd get to this. I'd probably combine Kecleon and more iconic pokemon with a similar build to what the rival's final team was myself. Not the same mons but similar roles.
