Oh my gosh! What a gut-wrenching performance!!! An incredible actress. Her emotion comes through so much in her character, her love, her fear, and her grief. She is unforgettable in this role. Heartbreaking in this scene. This should not have been deleted...you can see Wind in His Hair holding her and understand so much about how he feels about John Dunbar...

It breaks my heart that they didn't keep this scene. When I think it through it doesn't make sense when Wind In His Hair is comforting her here, and later is dragging her body across the ground back to the camp. I still hate her hair in this film, but damn she's a fine actress!

One of the most positive things about many native American tribes is that they would accept ANYONE into their culture as a child and raise them as one of their own. They struggled with endemic warfare, slavery and so on but did not have the idea of racism as we know it.

According to the book her husband was part of a hunting party not a war party. They were sneak attacked by Pawnee, probably the same ones that killed Timmons and later tried attacking the Sioux camp only to be killed because Dunbar had given US Army rifles to the Sioux.
