An Interislander ferry has run aground in New Zealand

An Interislander ferry has run aground near Picton on New Zealand's South Island.

Emergency services are believed to be on standby, and life jackets have been deployed to all passengers and crew.

It is understood the incident happened shortly after leaving Picton for Wellington.

Local MP Rachel Boyack says she understands there are no injuries, and the Harbourmaster was doing on board checks.

The NZ Govt has said they won’t fund a new lot of Ferry’s so this will be for Insurance purposes. These ferry’s travel these routes up to 4 x a day - no mistake. Keep a close eye on this story.

We were in line for some new ferry’s. They were being built in Korea.
Then the government changed and they pulled out of the contract.
So, if you’re planning on visiting our beautiful country. Think twice about taking the ferry.

So the captain was denied his new boat…so he wrote off his current one. Cant remember what transrail was doing since the government decided the upgrade was a waste or at least a poor use of funds, i do agree with the government on that side, but noone knew this guy was gunna land the working boat…

Their cutbacks on Infrastructure that's luxon, and his no idea minister's are costing jobs, which is beneficial to helping the economy.
