I can't even fathom why you even mentioned Elon Musk in this video. He has nothing to do with the purchase of the watch, and the sale you're talking about was in 2017. You literally just did it so you could have the image of Elon musk on the title card of this video. That's incredibly deceitful and dishonest. It has nothing to do with this video. The man who bought the watch in 2017 for 17 million is James Cox. Although he's a billionaire now, his net worth in 2017 was only $850 million, which means it was a sizable purchase for him. Why didn't you mention any of that?

I do like that we use Elon Musk now as a mesurement of wealth, when we've forever compared it to Jeff 'who'.

Btw, say it's like the rich spending 15$ on a watch, kinda puts their wealth into perspective

Some watches are spectacularly complex and interesting. Amazing craftsmanship. I can accept the high prices (sort of) of those watches. Wearable art\engineering. Regular looking Rolex watches seem so outlandishly expensive because people will pay a high price. That being said the rich people who buy them have the money to do so. Like $100 plain white Tshirts. Expensive means very different things between the rich and average pay humans..

It is really all about the collectors value and bragging rights. True the watch might be worth less that 10k when it was bought, but remember that the Mona Lisa was just a canvas that someone smeared paint on. But there is only one and it has a mystery to it.
