Knife Spine Metal Etching with salt water and a 12 volt battery charger. We use a craft vinyl cutting machine to cut out the self adhesive vinyl stencils for the metal etching. This how-to video details how the art is created and or imported into the Cameo Silhouette program and then cut into very detailed stencils. We then use a 12 volt automotive battery charted and a little salt water to etch all areas not protected or covered by the vinyl. The knife spine was etched with a 3d chain links but knife makers can use the same technique can be used to etch almost any pattern.

Excellent well put together and your explanations for what you are doing make it very easy to follow and understand. I wish all DIY's were as informative and well made. No idea why anyone would thumb this video down. Fantastic job and Thanks for sharing!

Really nice work. I collect knives and am contemplating whether to get into knife making itself. Problem is I have far too many hobbies already! Either way I have saved this video just in case.
I'm looking forward to watching your other videos. Well done!

I'm going to look at your newest etching videos, but this is so cool! I just love it! I guess you have to learn how to draw in cad basically first to use the etcher software, but I'm going to check into it. Thank you for detailed process. Hopefully you have links to buy stencil maker etc.

Muy lindo trabajo. Pero qué proceso utilizas para que no se oxide una vez terminado ?

Super late to this video but, if you need clear transfer paper you can buy clear kitchen contact paper from the dollar store! It's a bit more sticky than branded transfer paper, so you kind of have to stick it to your shirt once... but it's CHEAP and plentiful!
Love your work!

Wow, Silhouette Cameo? Fiskars paper/vinyl cutter? Fussiness over the type of vinyl used? You and I are of like mind. I loved the precision demonstrated: beautiful knife.

Great video! When I first heard your voice, Woody Allen came to mind. Hope that doesn’t offend you, not my intention. Really enjoyed this video. 🙏🏻Thank-you....

Does anyone know how small the silhouette 2 can cut as I want to make very small Japanese characters and I am unsure if it will cut very small sizes on vinyl, any info or help is appreciated.

You can also use Inkscape it's free to use its great for logos and the silhouettes of knives for cutting it out
